This BLM campground is located at the Mill Canyon Dinosaur Tracksite off BLM 215 (Cotter Mine Road) dirt road. The campground billing station is located next to an informational bulletin board and the most primitive single-stall vault toilet that was simply disgusting. Besides the smell, you had to fight the hordes of flies that have made this place their home. The campsites ranged in size, and we saw everything from tents to Class A motorhomes. There are also two small corrals at the far end (west side) of the parking lot and some desert art (miners or explorers on metal donkey silhouettes) southwest of the parking lot. There are only ten campsites available with two campsites (5 & 6 – reservations only) on the far west having actual covered pavilions and there are trash...
Read moreBLM camping! We had "reservations" which meant being assigned the campsite with awning at the very end of the gravel lot (and furthest away from the pit toilets). Wind gusts made things a little challenging - numerous rocks on my tent and stakes was not enough to keep things in place one afternoon. Nearby dune buggy trail was busy in the evenings but they were quiet at bedtime hours. One fellow camper asked us, "Where are the tracks?" and we learned about the nearby dinosaur tracks preserved for future study...
Read moreBasically a big gravel lot with a few camp spots. Did have tables, fire pits, a corral for horses and easy access to dinosaur tracks. There was an outhouse and a dumpster. Not a bad view either. I just like more privacy, not to be parked right next to your neighbor and to be able to let the dogs roam...
