For our second trip to Sedona, we booked destination@oak creek through VRBO. On a previous trip we had stayed in The Village of Oak Creek and this time we decided to stay right in Oak Creek Canyon as it would be cooler and there would be plenty of trees around. Besides a good hotel was more expensive and one doesn’t really want to deal with too many people during a pandemic.||We rented Cabin A because it featured a private patio and some of the others share patios. We arrived on a Monday around 4:30 pm as check in is at 4:00 pm . We had previously received the door code and entry was easy. The cabin features a living area with an electric insert fireplace, a television with DISH tv, a sofa (I believe it pulls out to a bed) and a chair. There is no dining table but there is a counter under the window with four stools and a patio table and chairs outside so there’s plenty of seating.||The kitchen does not feature a stove or an oven but we knew that going in. There is a coffee pot, a microwave and a fair sized refrigerator. They also supply a hot plate and several other small appliances in a lower cabinet. Not a full kitchen but we planned on eating out and really only used the refrigerator for water , the coffee pot and the microwave. ||The bedroom was quite roomy and also had a television. The bed was comfortable but the pillows are small and flat so if traveling by car, one might consider bringing your own. The bathroom is off the bedroom and although small is nicely appointed.||There were a couple problems which I’m sure they would have taken care of if we contacted the owner but we took care of them ourselves. When we first opened the refrigerator, the door fell off. Not a huge problem, just a lower screw. Had it been worse I’m sure they would have taken care of it. Also there is a remote for the fireplace and it appears the battery was dead. No problem as there are controls directly on the right side of the insert. ||There are a couple problems that they have no control over, the first is poor WiFi reception. I’m sure many remote locations experience this problem. They are aware of this and do not want people streaming as it would slow things down considerably. They also stated that cell phone service is spotty but we never had a problem with it. ||All and all, Destination at Oak Creek is comfortable and well worth the price. The grounds are very nice (although for full disclosure, the waterfall they speak of is man made and one can hear the pump). I would recommend this place for anyone wishing to get away...
Read moreMy wife and I chose to stay here in early August for our 33rd anniversary trip based on browsing through their website. We couldn’t have made a better choice. The cabin (#10) was perfectly sized for the two of us and our Black Lab. Upon entering, the rooms were clean, cool, and comfortable. The King bed provided us with 2 very good nights of sleep and I was happy to see a door between the bedroom and the living space so the early riser (me) did not disturb my sleeping beauty. The kitchenette was just big enough and had everything we needed. We even BBQ’d a couple of steaks on the Weber grill out on the patio Saturday night. The outdoor shared patio space and the gathering space at the end provided us a great atmosphere to relax and enjoy my early morning coffee and evening happy hour cocktail. The waterfall coming down the hill was icing on the cake. There is no staff onsite but they were very good at communicating by text letting us know if there was anything we needed they were there to serve. We loved that it was a little out of the way from the hustle bustle of uptown but still close enough to get there in a few minutes drive. All in all it was a beautiful experience and highly recommended for a great...
Read moreThe location is great. The interior of the room we stayed in was pretty nice, at first glance. You can tell that the inside was remodeled relatively recently. Unfortunately, the remodeling job was not very great. The front door had a 1 inch gap under it, and there was a huge gap between the trim and the wall. This is probably why we saw a mouse within 5 minutes of arriving. We saw mice about every hour when we were in the room. They didn't really even seem to care that we were there. They just came and went through holes in the walls and gaps under the door. There were also may bugs in the room. Like the mice, they came and went through gaps in the poorly remodeling framework and doorways. The grill was incredibly rusty so we decided not to use it. The bed was horrendously uncomfortable and had deep body dents. The bathroom was nice, but there was no exhaust vent and the only window had no screen. It wouldn't take much to make this place really great, but you can tell that it is not very well maintained at all. We still had a fun trip and loved the location, but dealing with mice and an unusable grill made it not worth the money. Maybe at half price we'd consider...
