What a lovely and magical place! My boyfriend and I came to stay here for a long weekend, just to get out of the city for a while and get some peace and quiet. Firstly, its a very short drive from Denver, it took us less than an hour to drive up there. The owners were very clear with their instructions on how to find the place, and we got there with no problems whatsoever. Needless to say the moment we crossed the bridge over the river, we were immediately transported to a 1950's/Alice n Wonderland/Mountain camp, it was super cute and not over the top. We stayed in the White Rabbit Cabin which has its own Sauna. You first walk in to the living room/ kitchen area which has a lovely and comfortable vintage couch, a record player with a great selection of blues, folk and jazz, some fresh plants and the kitchen and dinning area which is off to the back. The cabin has literally everything you need to cook great meals for yourself, a stove, fridge, plates, cooking utensils, pots, glasses, spices and oil, a coffee french press, a automatic water boiler, mugs, just everything. You don't have to lug a bunch of stuff here like camping which just makes it so much more relaxing. The bedroom is its own room off to the back with a bathroom attached. Sleeping in there was just a dream! You can crack the window and listen to the river all night, its so relaxing. And let me tell you how comfortable the bed was! So comfortable that in fact- the next day I went out to purchase these same pillows and sheets for our home! The bed was just perfect, not to firm with a hint of softness. Slept like a baby- wait, no better than a baby! The bathroom is perfect for two people, a stand up shower to rinse off after the sauna or perhaps a hike or whatever mountain activities you are doing while you are up there. There is a heater in the living room and the bedroom which we did use on account of when we were there is was about 45 degrees at night. We literally just listened to records and sat on the couch or down by the river all weekend, cooking great meals, sitting in the sauna and just relaxing. The cabins are very close to Idaho Springs and a bunch of trails and other activities, but we were just in it for the chilling. This would be the perfect place to come up by yourself, you partner, or even another couple of couple friends. Next time I intend on coming up with some friends and renting out the whole place so we can all have our own cabins and beds and just hang and eat by the river together. I cant...
Read moreA telling response from FMC management/ownership to Paige Billings review. Prior to our stay in June 2021, I had read many of the enthusiastic FMC reviews and have to say that our experience was not positive. This was a "rustic feel of camping" with many hassles! Rustic is an excuse for the FMC cabins being less than advertised. The comments made in the Billings review ARE NOT FALSE. Here is why: The cabins were not clean -nor were they comfortable. The floors were DIRTY as were the plates/glasses and utensils in the kitchen. Instagram cute but cold and ill equipped: Hang Ups: NO closets/chest of drawers..where to put anything? On the dirty floor? I guess it was our fault we booked these cabins for a family wedding. Dim view: The lighting is minimal - good luck trying to read! Hanging out: A couch for 3 and a concrete hearth Cozy? bedding: inadequate: 100% polyester sheets/quilt and open weave cotton blankets and the bare wood floor is little barrier for the chill day or night. The customer service was similar as the response to the Billings review. We did ask for the heat to be turned back on as the temps dropped to 48 at night and this was begrudgingly accommodated. A refund was offered and accepted for one night for each of the cabins. Defense is not the same as...
Read moreThese cabins make me nostalgic for a time before I was born. It’s like stepping into your favorite classic rock album from the 1970’s 🌝. Speaking of albums, each cabin has a record player with an amazing yet random assortment of records to choose from.(check out Fun Boy Three in the White Rabbit🔥) We stayed in three of the 4 cabins and each one has its own Perfect handpicked vintage details and magical theme. We drove up from Denver, about 45 minutes, to get away from the City and the heat for a minute and it was everything we needed to relax and reset. The bridge over the water and hammock on the island are fabulous for soaking in the sun and enjoying the fresh mountain air. The property runs along the creek past the cabins with a few hidden seating areas and each cabin had a lantern which made the walk along the creek after dusk even more special. One last thing that I really enjoyed about these cabins is that they are NOT on Airbnb, which means that the nightly rate is the actual rate. I try to avoid bookings where hidden fees get piled on almost doubling the cost. I would 100% recommend this fairy tale forest get away to anyone and we are already planning another trip for the fall when the leaves...
