My daughter just got back from this camp and let me tell you, I am so disappointed in her experience. With how much they charge for this place, you would expect at least REAL EGGS to be served! They fed my kid powdered eggs the whole week! The kids aren’t allow to speak while they are being served food. They have three min to shower, in a roach infested shower room. The “activities” were not fun at all and nothing like she expected. The counselors were not nice to them. Hung out all night and loudly spoke of their “hook ups” while yelling at the kids to shut up. They even put a baby monitor in the cabin so they couldn’t talk! I’m so upset she had this kind of experience. This is obviously a money grab. They hired cheap labor from other countries, got the cheapest food, and some ridiculous activities to keep them busy. My son also went and was severely sick on day three. They refused to call us until my daughter had to demand they bring him to the nurse or call me. When I picked him up he was severely dehydrated and ended up having strep and having to get an IV! Also they took my daughters cabin crew into the woods on a four mile hike in the hot sun while the counselors drove next to them! Then they made them stay in a tent in the middle of the woods with spiders all around. The counselors sat up gossiping about boys while the girls had to be completely quiet in the tent. Why was she sleeping in a tent when I paid thousands for a cabin at camp?! In the dead of summer?? I’m absolutely furious. I will be contacting the camp. This was just by first step. Do not take your kids here. It’s all about the money now. So sad…

UPDATE- Received a non apologetic email with lots of gaslighting. My daughter is 13 and has never lied in her life. She definitely saw lots of roaches in the showers, all the girls did. They were crunching them with their crocs, so there is that. Also it says camp will be for ages 8-13 and then they have campers another week ages 14-16, also not true. She was the only 13 year old with 14 and lots of 15 year old girls in the cabin. They responded to this with nothing but a bunch of gaslighting. No mention of the baby monitor they stick in the cabins at night to yell at the campers who talk! Very disappointed when a company doesn’t take constructive criticism or accountability and makes excuses. The activities were nothing more than a bunch of waiting around for their turn. The kids did not have fun. The counselors were all from different countries so how good are they doing these background checks? They cram as many kids as they can for the week, it’s a money grab. The kids can’t talk for 15 min after they get their food? It’s camp, not prison!! I paid $4100 for two kids. One that left severely dehydrated after three days and one who had a horrible time. They did charge me $1 for the chapstick they gave my sick son though, so that is cool. Lol....

Unfortunately my daughter had a very negative experience at this camp in the summer of 2022 and I can't recommend it. She did a 1 week overnight camp, through which I received a little communication. When I drove to pick her up, I was informed by the counselor in a very rude tone that "her lice came back". Turns out that they found lice in her hair and a few other campers in her cabin; my daughter told them that she had been treated by lice (mind you, this was many weeks before the summer started and she had a clean lice check before I left her) and they assumed it had been started and spread by her. Over several weeks the story unfolded that they had told everyone in the cabin that she brought lice to the camp, stripped her bed and gave her a sheet to sleep under and no pillow. Another camper gave her some pajamas because they felt sorry for how cold she was. They didn't let her go to the big dance that she had brought a special dress for. They didn't call me. They then informed another parent on pick-up that she started it. Honestly, I was horrified that I hadn't been called to pick her up, and that they gave private health information to another parent. My daughter still gets sad thinking about her last few nights there and how she was treated. I wrote an email to the manager which took 2 weeks to answer and was rather generic "I'm sorry you had a bad experience, we hope you return to Friendly Pines". It appears that there is nobody running this camp over the age of 25 years old, and no owner that you can contact about your concerns. It's a shame since it's one of the few overnight camps in the area that I knew about. I won't be giving them my money and we won't be returning. I hope they get...

My daughter was there during summer 21’ for a 2 week camp. While there she started feeling sick about her third day in. She told her counselors and they told her “she was just home sick” she cried bc she was obviously in pain so they sent her to the nurse who just let her sleep in the office. My oldest daughter was also there and had mentioned to her counselor that her sister in another cabin was sick and they weren’t doing anything about it. My daughter was barely able to walk and was crying asking to come home but even the camp director wouldn’t do anything about it after both of my daughters went to her asking to just call home. I eventually got ahold of a mail lady at camp that got in touch with my daughter for me. My daughter ended up coming home after 1 week with meningitis, which if you don’t know could be deadly. She was barely able to walk, had rashes all over body and slept for 18 hrs when she came home. If this doesn’t scare you idk what would. I hope the team at this camp reflected and learned how to go about things...

Excellent experience, great team and staff and super friendly, helpful and kind. The great thing about this camp was they were flexible at any form to work with your schedule. Jonathan did a fantastic job in answering all of our questions from day 1 patiently and he was always open to new demands. Chef David is a great chef that can help you to experience variety of tasty delicious food based on your diet! And Mat is a great high elements instructor with an amazing team of experienced, kind and lovely staff that makes you feel your camping experience is one of the kind! Before going to the Friendly Pines Camp we visited few other sites, next to them and even around the Prescott area, these guys were totally different in everything! totally recommend them and you won't be regret! We are now already planning on the next year's camp with them and any of our campers couldn't be happier and in fact they were asking us when is going to be the next camp! Totally worth every single penny!

We sent our 10 y.o. son here for a one-week session this summer based on a family member's recommendation. This was his first sleepaway camp experience, and he loved it. He said it was a 10 out of 10 on the "fun meter" and he enjoyed the other campers. His highlights included the campout, fencing, western riding, and seeing so much local wildlife (deer and even an elk!). He's looking forward to next year already! And his younger sister is excited to join him. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. In addition, we traveled out of state for him to attend the camp, and we felt the camp was organized and very responsive to any questions we had as we got him ready. The grounds are also well-maintained and all staff members I interacted with were helpful and friendly.

Friendly Pines Camp holds a special place in my heart as the grandson of Mary Beth Whitlow. I was lucky enough to spend many unforgettable summers there and I can honestly say that it was some of the best times of my life. The staff and counselors are top-notch, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all campers. The activities offered, from archery to rock climbing, allow for endless fun and adventure. But what truly sets Friendly Pines apart is the sense of community that is fostered. I made lifelong friends and memories there and I will always cherish my time spent at the camp. If you're looking for a summer filled with laughter, growth, and joy, then Friendly Pines Camp is the place for you.
