After waiting one month to try to resolve this issue discretely with management and not having someone follow up with me, I've decided to leave a poor review. I stayed here 3 nights in early September with my husband. Upon checking in, I discovered they switched us to trailer 22, even though I reserved trailer 21. They only notified me after I discovered the switch that the other trailer had a maintenance issue. I had reserved 21 specifically because it had a queen bed, was nicely decorated, and the bathroom appeared to have more leg room. The front desk said I could be refunded $30 per night, but it is one month later, and I still have not seen this refund on my account. The second issue is that we encountered a mouse and mouse droppings during our stay. There were mouse droppings even when we first checked in, but it really didnt register until the 3rd night when we saw the mouse twice in trailer 22. We heard something strange the first night as well, and later realized it must have been a mouse trying to get into the garbage can in the kitchen area. There were mouse droppings on the floor, counter, stove, and even on the beds. After seeing the mouse and realizing that it had been in and out of our trailer the entire stay and crawling out of the vent by the bed, we didn't feel comfortable sleeping in the trailer and spent the third night sleeping in our vehicle. I have spoken with Sue on the phone twice and she has forgotten to follow-up with me both times. I have also sent an email, which has gone unanswered. At the very least, I would like to be refunded for the night that we didn't even sleep in the trailer (full refund for one night including tax), as well as the $90 refund that was promised for changing our reservation without consulting us first. Honestly, it was disappointing that there were mouse droppings present on the beds and in the trailer sink upon check in, which I think warrants a full refund for the entire stay because the space was not clean, but at this point, I just want there to be some type of recognition and resolution for this issue. Photos of some of the mouse droppings attached. There were many, many more in one of the cabinets, which I don't...

This gets a two simply because it is in close proximity to the wonderful dunes. ||From there, it’s all downhill. We stayed in one of the Lodge rooms and found ours to have a dominant, moldy smell. We found our bathroom to have feces on the wall of the toilet bowl, along with a dirty washcloth lying in the floor and the toilet seat to be very loose. I was able to fix the toilet seat myself. The shades and in the room were effective when they were pulled down to darken the room however we were unable to raise them more than about a foot. I was informed they don’t currently have a maintenance person.||Paper-thin walls enabled us to hear the very loud ruckus in an adjacent room for hours the night we stayed. Some critter was crawling around in the ceiling of our room, to add to the ambience. ||Upon arrival at around 3:30 we informed the receptionist we were quite hungry and were looking for a place to eat for dinner. We were informed that the only place within any reasonable distance was the “Oasis” restaurant on the grounds. We were warned that we better hurry to get to the restaurant to order some food because it closes at 4:00 and the manager of that establishment is inclined to close it earlier than 4:00 if she didn’t have enough business. We scrambled to the Oasis and I enjoyed a forgettable meal of overcooked hamburger (which was ordered medium rare). We were, however, served by a delightful, energetic waiter.||Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We say “steer clear from the Lodge” but don’t...

This lodge utilizes self check-in after you've completed your forms, which is super convenient so you can check in anytime after 3p. My room was super clean and it looks like they updated the flooring in the room and updated the bathroom, except for the toilet seat. It's a ceramic toilet seat but it is chipped and needs to be replaced altogether.

I would have given this property a 5 because of its location, cleanliness, and ease of check-in. However, I dropped it to a 3 but there are serious safety concerns:

Code for room key isn't really unique to rooms. It's 00 +room number. What stops someone from taking the key, opening the door, replacing the key after the door is open, and hiding in the room? I understand that this is a remote town but it is also a tourist attraction so it hosts a lot of people.

The sliding door doesn't lock. When it's opened and you click it into the lock position, it will be in the lock position, but when it's actually closed, it will NOT latch and will spring back into the unlock position. The safety bar also just is shoved into place without a holder to secure it. Any movement and the door is unsecured. I realized that I slept with a completely unlocked door. Yes, it was my fault for not double checking that it is locked before going to bed, but I wouldn't have been able to sleep knowing that I couldn't secure the door. In this instance,...

Stayed one night after visiting the Dunes in the afternoon. We were in a king deluxe suite, which was probably deluxe based on size of the room. Bigger than a typical hotel room, with a king bed, desk with 2 folding chairs, trundle bed (instead of a couch), small fridge and small microwave. Sliding glass door to covered patio with small table and comfy chairs. Mosquitoes were an issue outside in the late afternoon, but by evening we were not bothered. Coffee outside on patio this morning without mosquitoes. Shower was adequate, with a curtain rather than glass door. Room looked newish, with vinyl plank type floor rather than tile or carpet (yeah!). Friendly desk staff at check in and check out. Breakfast is grab and go, no seating. But has coffee/hot water, milk, oatmeal, muffins, burrito, cereal, and waffle iron. This place has yurts, travel trailers, and “motel” rooms like we had for rent. There is an RV park as well, and also “primitive” cabins. Very convenient to the Dunes. The Oasis restaurant and store is open 8am to 7pm and has good food in the restaurant and a “camp” store with food items. Overall, I’d say this is a very convenient and pleasant place to stay. Can’t vouch for the yurts (I suspect really hot in summer), rental RV trailers, or primitive cabins though. Also, the wifi in our room was very reliable which is helpful!
