Lost Duchman’s Stanton Camp — Hotel in Four Corners States

We had an awful experience here. Came last night because of the deep frost and we needed electricity to keep ourselves and our Rv/ battery system warm and safe. Our propane solenoid broke the other day and we specifically booked a full hook up site to have heat and protect our lithium batteries from freezing. The electricity went out sometime during the night and we didn’t realize until we woke up to a cold RV in the morning, we’re unsure of the damage we occurred because of it. We initially booked 2 nights and had to pay up front over the phone to book. After losing power we decided not to stay a second night. Not only did we not get what we paid for the first night, but they couldn’t give us a refund for not staying the second night. The camp host on duty, Liz responded with “we have electricity now, do you want to just stay another night? I don’t know about a refund.” And that was all.

My partner and I have been excited to check this place out for awhile, especially since we have been considering becoming lifetime LDMA members, but we definitely won’t be joining after this gross experience. It seemed as if the most important thing to Liz was whether we were GPAA or LDMA members (we’re GPAA) and telling us where we can or cannot prospect. Seemed like gatekeeping was more of a priority than help or service here. Also, none of the RV sites are flat.

Lastly, about every interaction we had with guests and hosts was unsavory- which is the complete opposite of what we experienced in Wickenburg and Tucson. We can’t leave...

I retired this year and so we chose to spend the winter here. Best thing we could do. Prospecting for five months and all the activities kept me so busy I could not be bored. You choose how much you want to do but the people will make you want to partake. Our new family and we are already booked for next year. Oh did I mention the price?
