Origins is a gem, and I would give it 6 stars if I could! This is a true bed and breakfast, with on-site hosts and a 5-star, three course, made from scratch, super filling breakfast served each morning. The maximum number of guests is 8 adults, so it's very intimate. EVERYTHING detail about Origins has been considered, from the rooms themed on the four origins of the area to the amenities provided. Karen and Jeff have traveled a lot, and they know what travelers need and want. And, if they didn't provide it, just ask! You can get a lot of information from their website, so I will focus my review on what you don't see there. First, the breakfast. The value here cannot be overstated. The breakfast provided is delicious, artful, and extremely filling. Each day is a smoothie, a fruit-based plate, and a huge protein-based plate. We estimated this saved us up to $70/day because we didn't need to buy breakfast or lunch out. And, the breakfast sustained us through hikes, long drives, and sightseeing. The coffee is freshly ground and served in a French Press, and you can also get teas or other hot drinks. Karen also provides you with the next morning's menu to make sure it is something you will enjoy, and she accommodates all kinds of food preferences. Second, the hosts. At breakfast, we would tell Jeff and Karen our plans, and they would give us lots of tips on how to make it even better. These were things like alternate (less crowded) routes, hikes, or parking; don't-miss stops; locally-owned restaurants and shops, etc. Lastly, the inn. Every detail is considered, and most of it was designed and created by the owners. The baths/showers are experiences! The beds are extremely comfortable, and the whole inn is just lovely, with private and common outdoor spaces. And, the stars...oh, my! The stars are breathtaking! Since Origins is a bit out of the downtown area and in a dark-zone, the stars are spectacular. You may even catch some wildlife passing by as you're stargazing! I seriously cannot recommend this place enough!! One tip - you will need a car to get around, but you'd probably need one anyway if you're doing anything outside Cottonwood itself. For reference, from Origins... Sedona is 20 minutes away. Old Town is 10 minutes. Jerome is 30 minutes. Flagstaff and Phoeniz are about 1.5 hours away. Page is about...
Read moreOrigin's Bed & Breakfast was one of the best places I have stayed so far in my traveling experience. My fiancé and I felt welcomed and in a sense at home. Jeff & Karen (the owners) were fantastic hosts who were kind and generous throughout our stay. We stayed in the Canyon Room, which is the smallest room in the BNB but felt HUGE! The pictures to this place do not do it justice!! Our patio faced the mountains and we were able to eat dinner with the sunset as our view. Far better than eating out anywhere! The location is at the back of a neighborhood on top of a hill. Once you have reached the destination, you feel secluded aside this factor. You are about 35 minutes from Sedona which is perfect because we didn't want to stay in Sedona with how busy the traffic gets! Jeff & Karen went above & beyond with the special touches they added for our stay. We arrived to find out room decorated in a way to congratulate my fiancé & I on our engagement. She had prepared us chocolate covered strawberries, put up balloons, and added other small touches which we appreciated. The breakfast they provided was AMAZING and they accommodate any type of dietary restrictions. I wish we would have been able to stay longer and eat breakfast with them more than one day!! Not only was the Canyon room perfect for our stay, but their BNB has other perks as well. There are local attractions (Sedona & Jerome), and the Verde River runs near the BNB. There are different areas within the BNB to hang out such as the common room with games or on the back patio next to the fire place. The back of the house faces the canyons and the front of the house faces the mountains. Both are gorgeous views! The BNB is relatively new, is very clean, and even with others being in the BNB we still felt like we were at a resort on our own! The amount of work and effort put into this place shows, and I am so thankful for these touches. What I liked most was how kind the hosts were and how the BNB reflects this area of Arizona (each room has a theme based on the history/location). Thank you again Jeff & Karen for an amazing stay. Read moreThis is one of the best Bed and Breakfast we have stayed at!!! The location is perfect. Almost exactly in the middle of very beautiful and romantic Sedona and the artsy and wine-connoisseur's-dream ghost town of Jerome. The perfect location to visit both places as each are less than 30 min away from Origins- we went back and forth from both!
We were in the river room and here are a few facts about the room first:
Now the breakfast. Both breakfast were first times for us and Karen puts love in her dishes:
