I have been to other USAF Fam Camps but this one is by far my favorite! 1. The campground has 2 sites which makes it better coz you don’t feel crowded. 2. In these sites they each have a bath house which is simply toilets, shower, and laundry facilities. Each bath house also has a quarter dispenser for your bills so you can use the washer and dryer. There is also 4 sets of washer & dryer in each bath house. If you forgot detergent or dryers sheets, they have a dispenser at each bath house as well. The Tide detergent was .75 cents. 3. It has lots of beautiful trees! 4. Another thing that I like about it is the dump station or sewer, as it is a bit sloped inward towards the ground (not sticking up and has no liners) so your sewer hose is positioned well so water would flow smoothly. To me that is important because I want to be able to really flush it all out LOL. 5. The spaces are very spacious, so it is easy to maneuver and you don’t have to worry about hitting trees, fixtures or other vehicles. Plus the spaces come with a picnic table. 6. It’s clean and well-maintained. In fact when we stayed there, I saw 2 campground staff maintaining the grounds - cutting weeds and such. 7. There is only 1 code to access the toilets (both male and female) as well as the laundry facilities. So no hassle memorizing different codes. What I don’t like about this ram camp? 1. No late check in under any circumstances. This means you have to call ahead for a reservation OR arrive DURING office hours so you can check in. Otherwise, don’t even try. 2. When you call the office you will be directed to a voicemail message asking you to leave your name and other details so the office staff can call you back for a reservation. We did leave a message but we didn’t get a call back. When we got there during office hours the lady manning the front desk had a list of all the voicemails that she need to get back to. Good thing we drove there while the office is open. If we have just waited, we wouldn’t get a place for the night. 3. No WIFI at the camp. The map says that wifi is located at the bath houses; but that doesn’t make sense coz we don’t stay at the bath house. Good thing we have data. Signal is not that strong, but at least there is data. NOTE: This camp is near a train track and you will surely hear it at night. In the morning, if you are sensitive to noise you may not be able to sleep in. The USAF has trainings so it may be a bit noisy… We were just not easily bothered by it so my husband and I’s experience were overall great!

We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed them all. Nice level site with plenty of room between other campers. If you love being in nature this campground is wonderful. Nice walking trail and if you want to explore a little you can walk down to the train tracks and wave at the train conductor as he passes by. He waved back :D. Speaking of the train, the train noise was barely noticeable from our site. Since this is on the Air Force Academy base you have access to all of the services there. Bowling alley, commissary, BX, gas, Class XI, hiking and such. Located close to all major attractions in the area (Garden of the Gods). This is not a resort but a very peaceful campground that you can't beat for the price..if you can get reservations. Please book in advance.

Nice camp ground, reservations are a must. We planned for two nights, but were not allowed to arrive a day early...very busy. Good space between sites, trees are plentiful and out of the way for RV movement. We rented a fire pit, but then had T-storms and rain, so we couldn't use. Bad timing on our part. No issues on electricity, solid 50 amps, but high water pressure, bring your pressure valve (120 psi at faucet). Trains and planes were heard, but we slept great both nights. Highly recommended for DoD ID card holders.

Staff is great. Amenities are awesome especially for the price. They sell propane at the front office and the office has great hrs for customers attendance. The biggest down falls is the GOD AWFUL TRAIN! It passes through all throughout the day and seems more frequent at night blowing its horn and shaking the camper. No fault of the staff or camp it’s self. Another con is FOOTBALL season seems like the communication of the volunteers, Security Forces and FSS staff is terrible. Better off staying away while they host a football game. Volunteers know nothing so don’t bother talking them period and SF makes it stupid hard to get back to fam camp during a game and there extremely rude about it no matter if you are retired/DoD I’d holder for get about it! Either your stuck at your camp for the duration of the game or your best staying off base till the chaos simmers down. Navigating through the camp ground is another fuss but nothing you can’t figure out passing through a couple times. People have a hard time keeping there pets on a leash and have a hard time picking up after them too. There are little cactuses everywhere so watch out for those flip...

The campground itself is great, and it's tough to beat the location. However, the staff here is only marginally helpful. The bathroom I use here desperately needs to be cleaned, for example. Also, I am working here for 2 weeks, so I rented one of their MiFi devices for a month because it was cheaper than doing it for 2 weeks. However, what they failed to mention is that one you reach a certain level of data usage, the data gets slowed down to the point where it's unusable, even just for email. When I spoke to them at the office, all they said was, It was in the list of (1000) rules that you signed, so there's nothing we can do for you. So, I paid for 1 month and got to use it for about a week. Now I'm forced to use my phone as a Hotspot, which is what I was trying to avoid. What a rip-off, and frustrating that they didn't say anything. I would have just rented it for 2 periods of 1 week each if they had warned me....
