Beautiful reservoir great for fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding. There's a trail around the reservoir and a 2 mile long loop that goes up into the foothills, good for hiking or beginner level mountain biking. I took 2 stars off because the campsites are crazy small and super packed together. They are only 10 feet wide, our tent wouldn't fit. They say you can have 8 people at each site, but there's only room for 2 small tents at the most. And they are super close together, you can see everyone at all times. Vault toilets are the cleanest I've ever seen,...

The muti-use dog friendly ( on a leash) 3.0 mile loop trail has some off shoots that could make it a 5.2 mile trail with minimal elevation gain and an easy walk with stunning views. This reservoir serves as a battery for the Bureau of Reclamation power plant down the hill. Great for fishing, SUP, kayaking and bird watching. There is an Osprey nest on an old telephone pole towards the south side of the lake. No swimming or motorized boats allowed. Just a great little spot not many...

I would give it 5 stars, but the pay kiosk is out of order. So you have to pay at the Carter Lake entrance which is 10 miles back from where I came from. The ranger there said the kiosk has been broken for " a long time". That would have been nice to know before I had to drive 10 miles back to the Carter lake entrance and then 10 miles back...
