I am disappointed and disgusted. Fred, the property manager/care-taker, treated me with complete disrespect during my check-in and during my attempts to resolve an erroneous charge to my card. There was much confusion over my reservation (none of which I had any control over and even after I called ahead to confirm everything was in order) which resulted in a charge for 3 nights in a cabin I did not request for my use, place a deposit on, or utilize. When I tried to show Fred the charge, he showed me a screen on his computer that said I had no balance for that cabin, refused to look at my evidence of the charge and told me he was "done talking about it" and to "take it up with the bank". I am in the process of that dispute, but only after another attempt for a refund which was dismissed as Fred claimed the transaction doesn't exist and further tried to declare that the reservation was somehow valid to begin with. During the check-in fiasco, the female manager (who was pleasant) approached the desk appearing to want to help, and Fred was quick to demand that she mind her business. Women should be prepared for this kind of mistreatment if subjected to Fred's "service", it's disturbing. If not for Fred, I could have overlooked my leaky, dirty (very dirty), poorly equipped, and outdated accommodations with little complaint. The lake is gorgeous, and the fishing was amazing. Also- beware, the fine print allows them to change their rates on you for any amount (rates change annually) after you make a deposit and receive a receipt with a specific stated balance. They do this without prior notification or clearly posted rates of any kind on their property or website. Shame on me for missing the disclosure. "Annually" happened two months after I made my deposit and I had no way of knowing...

Read moreMy mother had been going to Rainbow Lake Resort for the past 15+ years and loved it! We went this year and we were greatly disappointed. The property is under new management. We will not be going back as long as they are there. ||||After driving 16 hours, we arrived at our cabin only to find it had serious septic issues. There is no way anyone with a sense of smell could stay in that cabin! We discovered through conversation with The property managers that they were aware of the problem yet didn’t let us know before we started our travels. ||||They “kindly” offered us an upgrade cabin, but for only 2 of our 7 nights. It was a lovely cabin. There wasn’t any room at the resort other than a “motel” room in the lodge for the remainder of our time. We had these reservations for almost a year and were looking forward to special mother/daughter time. The Colorado experience we had dreamed of was a cabin, not a motel room. ||||Due to COVID, we were unable to find another cabin to stay at in the area. We were so angry and disappointed in the way we were treated by management that we didn’t want to stay at Rainbow Lake Resort any longer than necessary. So we drove home. 32 hours of travel and only 41 hours of rest for a disabled 78 year old. You’ve heard of mama bears, I think I may be a daughter bear. So aggravating!||||Honestly, there is so much more I could say about management and how we were treated, but it would take too much time. I will however tell you that I asked one of the managers if she had checked the cabin before we arrived, since they were aware of the problems, she informed me she “never goes into the cabins”! Ugh! Coming from the hospitality profession myself, this floored me! The property owners should seriously reconsider who is running...
