Here’s everything I can tell you about the experience camping at Ramble:
DIRECTIONS: Google maps lead us right to the entrance of this place. I recommend downloading this area on your offline maps before heading over here (just in case).
Be aware, there is a stretch of road (1-2 miles probably) of gravel road to get here. The speed limit was like 55 but we couldn’t go much more than 30mph in a Ford Edge. It was a bit bumpy but not too bad. A two wheel drive car could do it but non off- roading vehicles just can’t go that fast.
FINDING YOUR SPOT AND PARKING: Each campsite is clearly labeled with room to park 1-2 cars. There is a parking area at the entrance of the site as well. Please note that not all spots allow you to pull your car right up to your site. We stayed at an adventure site and needed to walk about 100 yards or so from the car to the site. They provide wagons to haul your things which was super helpful for us. There were solar powered ground lights along the path that allowed us to see at night while we walked down it but were dim enough not to cause too much light pollution.
BATHROOMS: There is one bathroom on site but they have porta potteis spread throughout the entire campsite as well. It was about a 5-8 minute walk from our campsite to the bathrooms (spot 22). There was a porta potty right across the gravel road, about 20 feet from our car.
PRIVACY: Each site is about 100-200 yards from each other. We felt comfortable with the amount of privacy we had but it is different from traditional forest sites where you have trees to give you privacy. We felt the adventure spots were nice because they are along the edge of the campsite.
TRASH: They have dumpsters on site which I really appreciated so we didn’t have to haul our trash home in the car!
LOCATION: Location-wise, it felt remote but we still had some cell service and WiFi on site. We spent the weekend there and went to The Greenhouse at the Sand Dunes Recreation (would recommend btw) on Saturday. It was about 25 minutes or so to get there and about 30 minutes to get to the Sand Dunes National Park (where we went on Sunday after packing up and leaving).
HOST: There is a campsite host who stays on-site. They drive around every so often in a little cart to check on people. They didn’t come to our site to talk to us but he did say hello as he passed while we unpacked our car. They also have a number to call and left a note about where the host is if they are needed.
RULES/ WHO SHOULD STAY HERE: If your intentions are to go on a peaceful camping trip with your family, partner, or friends, this is a great place with lots of unusual amenities. It was like borderline glamping but still felt real. If you’re intending on partying with friends until the late hours, this isn’t the place for you. There was a list of campsite rules sent to me prior to our trip and I think they hold to them based on what I experienced there. One rule is no loud music and another is quiet time starts at 10:00pm.
VIEWS: The views were beautiful here and I got some great sunset pics. Lots of flower bushes too. The stars were bright but not perfect. The more remote the location, the brighter the stars but we could still see them better than you can in Denver so it’s a win in my book!
BUGS: They do mention somewhere that there are more bugs after a rain there but we went in a dryer timeframe (September) and didn’t even have to use bug spray. There are ants on the ground and some moths that hang out in the tent cover but it wasn’t too bad as bugs go which is something I appreciated.
OTHER AMENITIES: They do sell firewood, fire starters, and a handful of other things on site. The transaction is contactless so I doubt you can use cash (fyi). We didn’t use it so I don’t know exactly how it works. It was by the bathrooms. I don’t think they sell ice there.
COOL ATTRACTIONS: They have these metal balls that light up at night which are cool.
Overall, we had a great time and I would come again! I hope this helps some of you in deciding whether it’s...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the most amazing campsite that exceeded all my expectations. This hidden gem offers an all-inclusive camping experience, providing everything you need for a fantastic getaway. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, I was immersed in nature's beauty and treated with exceptional service that rivals even your basic hotel.
Location: The campsite's location is nothing short of perfect. Situated just a short 30-minute drive from the magnificent Great Sand Dunes National Park, it serves as an ideal base for exploring the area. The convenience of being so close to such a breathtaking natural wonder made my stay even more memorable.
Amenities: What sets this campsite apart from the rest is the sheer abundance of amenities. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find a meticulously built-out trail that meandered through the surrounding wilderness. It was a delight to take long hikes and soak in the stunning scenery. Additionally, the inclusion of a disc golf course was a fantastic touch, providing endless hours of fun and friendly competition.
Staff and Service: The staff and maintenance team at this campsite were unparalleled in their dedication and attentiveness. From the moment I checked in, they went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Their friendly and accommodating nature made me feel right at home. Their genuine passion for hospitality truly shines through in every interaction.
One highlight worth mentioning is the availability of high-quality firewood for a mere $7. It burned for hours, providing a cozy and warm ambiance as the evening settled in. The option to purchase such excellent firewood directly from the campsite saved me the hassle of searching for suitable logs elsewhere.
As if all the existing amenities weren't enough, I was thrilled to hear that the campsite plans to open more sites in the future. This news excited me, as it means even more people will have the opportunity to experience the magic of this place. I am eagerly looking forward to returning and witnessing the campsite's expansion.

Read moreRamble will forever hold a sacred space in our hearts. Family of 4 and very first time camping for the kids (ages 15 and 9). This is the best place to gently introduce kids to camping. It's basically a turn-key site, one degree away from "glamping". All you need to bring is your tent and food. Everything else is available at your site or by an easy scan of a QR code (including firewood!). They have thought of all the typical camping challenges and solved them before it becomes your burden.
Things I found to be so special and appreciate their attention to details: 🌟A pre-established shelter for shade (it gets really hot in the middle of the desert with no trees) 🌟 A table and chairs which we moved around to eat at the table, then around the fire for smores, then into the scrub oak for star gazing (the chairs even recline to make it easier to look at the massive night sky!) 🌟Solar lights along the path between site and car, solar lantern with just enough light to see your table but not too much to take away from the sky. There were even little fairy lights in the Porta potty which was incredibly clean. 🌟An area rug bolted to the ground. Simple but genius way to keep the sand and bugs out of our eating area. 🌟Tent pad with anchors. The surface was pre groomed and flat (no uncomfortable rocks digging into your back at night). There were easy spots to anchor your tent down which is highly advised because it gets windy AF out there! 🌟Grills!!! Omg what a convenience to have a grill and stove already set up. We didn't have to cook every single meal over an open fire. 🌟Fire pit was perfect. Kept the fire contained and cut down on the light pollution so we could still see the stars 🌟A Wagon waiting for us by the car. We used it to haul our tent, cooler firewood and more. What a very nice bonus. 🌟 James. The on site staff who stopped by to see how our visit was going. What an incredible human! He showed our son how to tie knots in cordage and shared his knowledge of the area. Although all of the advertisements suggest there is no staff on site, his presence was a welcomed surprise and just the added touch of hospitality on top of a fantastic experience. 🌟Location! close to the sand dunes, UFO watchtower, Colorado Gators!
