Overall we had a great experience at rock cliff campground. It was a last minute reservation for us and this was one of the only campgrounds available. not sure what's with their booking site, cause at the time we got the only available spot, but when we got there, there was only one other tent spot occupied and all the other tent sites were empty (there were plenty of RVs which were in a different area). The spots are beautifully surrounded by trees, which offered great shade. some tent spots definitely get more sun than others. We wish there was a proper map somewhere where it shows the parking and each of the tent spots, so we could've adjusted our expectations accordingly. To get there is easy to find, but as others said, there's a gate that needs a code, which we found in our reservation email. Everything looks brand new and seems well maintained. For tent camping there are different parking areas and then a gravel walking trail to the different sites, so you do have a bit of walking from your car, but depending on which site you get, it should only be a couple hundred feet or so. The advantage is that you don't have cars driving by you, but you do have to carry all your stuff. There's quick and easy access to the provo river, which can be fun entertainment for kids or fishing. For camping the bathrooms are complete luxury, having flushing toilets, sinks, soap and hand dryers, plus separate showers (cool water. not freezing, not warm). Electrical outlets were also avaialable there. Unfortunately we had a lot of wasps at our site for one of our meals, but that's nature, right?... We also had a stage 2 fire restriction, so unfortunately no fire, and it got cold in the morning. Bring something for wasps...
Read moreBeautiful, well maintained campground. This is seriously one of the nicest campgrounds in Utah.
Edit: I posted that just when we started camp hosting here. We've been hosting here (helping campers, keeping sites clean, and cleaning bathrooms) since then and we love it here. The staff is amazing, albeit maybe stretched thin at peak capacity. So have some patience please :) We get it done though. Know that despite not having someone always available to answer the phone, call directly if you have questions. This team truly loves helping people.
The roads still need signs to better tell you where to go once you get here. Those have been requested, so find the map of rock cliff online or in your email and sort out where to go once you get through the gate.
There is a gate code needed to get in. I've been told that you can find yours at the bottom of the confirmation email. If you get here and don't have it, find a camp host. There are usually two or three camp hosts in the main season and one of them is likely available. Their sites are marked as such. We are in 17 at the bottom of the hill to the right. If you love fly fishing, the Upper Provo River runs through the park into the Jordanelle. There is some good fishing and less fished than the wider streams further down. Quiet time at 10 pm. Please please respect nearby campers and also keep your lights and music/voices to an...
