Was just camping here a few nights ago with my husband and 3 dogs in our RV. We were the highest occupied campsite but there were quite a few occupied spots along the flat section of road. Lots of cacti, luckily we have fencing for our dogs we were able to set up in a cacti free zone. ***We were robbed while we were gone for 4 hours hiking and visiting the sand dunes. Our camper window was shattered... generator, hand gun, all our food, dogs food, and water was taken. So just a warning to those planning on leaving their site to explore the area. It is not safe unfortunately.***

Fantastic free dispersed camping sites on Lake Como road. Rustic camping with no other amenities. First come first serve site. The ones closer to the main road are better for tents due to the smooth ground..and the road and sites get rougher and rockier the further up the road you go. Still a beautiful place to camp for the night.

We came after dark and it was easy to find and get into a space if you follow maps directions. Good amount of room, pretty view to wake up to. Dispersed camping so no services available.

Very busy place, many ATV and other vehicles, too often excessively fast, using the main road in. But, the area delivers a breath taking view of Blanca Peak and cool temps that keep bringing me back. Several sites are nested in the soft sand just off the main access road that are large enough for big RVs. Smaller, tent sized pads are further up what becomes a fairly rough accent up Blanca's base. The town of Alamosa, and Walmart are a 20 minute westward drive from camp, Great Sand Dunes is 20 minutes north. Verizon is a solid 3-4 bars of LTE with light network traffic and decent up/down speeds. I'd have given 5 stars if not for the (way too often rude and inconsiderate)...

Plenty of room for boondocking right off the dirt road. I made it in on the dirt road in my minivan with no problem. The place is very dusty when the wind picks up and scatters the dusty dirt where the pullouts are. When vehicles go by, the dust from the road flies. No trees until you go quite a ways up the road so NO SHADE unless you bring your own awning of some kind or a sweet cloud passes in front of the sun. No amenities here. True boondocking. Pack out all your trash because there are no trash cans. No electricity or water hookups. No drinking or wash water on site. No toilets of any kind. No picnic tables. However, it's free to camp here and the view of the...

You can't beat free! Great place to stay while visiting Great Sand Dunes National Park. We parked about 1/2 mile in on the left and spent 3 nights here. BIG RIGS TSKE NOTE: The turn into the area is very tight, swing out into the opposite side of traffic before attempting the right turn into the area, or you could end up in the ditch! We're had a great view of the mountains right out our door. This is a favorite place for OHV, but they mostly just parked here and headed up the mountain. On our last night, friday, it got pretty crowded, but everyone respected each other's space and privacy. NO SHADE or other services, bring what you need. We had 3 bars of...
