This place is outstanding! There are no frills like hook ups, but the area is excellent. Look at my pictures of site 7. Easy pull in, picnic table, & the most quiet campground in the area. Fantastic views that will make your stay truly memorable. The price is $20 bucks, but the views make it priceless. If we ever come through this area this will be the only place we will consider. The entrance road is a little rough, but if you take your time it is nothing to drive in. Sites are far apart & mostly level. All dirt sites, but well packed. Owner owns most of the land around the campground 250ac so he is ok with you hiking all of it as long as you stay away from his family's homes. He was very informative on things to do in area. Easy drive to Monument Valley, Bears Ears, Natural Bruges, Gooseneck State park, too many things to post here. This is a 1st come gets the sites only, no reservations. We were there in Oct., pulled in had the Campground to ourselves. The four days we were there we saw only 5 other campers. The sunrise & sunsets are to die for. There is one portable potty on site, clean, but we didn't use it. People not in RV's were. Campfires were allowed & you can bring your own wood. Do not harm local junipers or gather wood. Some of my pics show the formation that is the camps name sake. Our dogs loved the freedom of running around when there were no others on site. **there are reservation dogs roaming around & livestock, so please be respectful to others **everything you bring in you MUST pack out **some sites will accommodate large RVs ours was 31ft. **the stars are amazing, even seeing the Milky Way, no light pollution. **there is NO internet, cable, & our phone service was sketchy Owner or family member will come to take your money, there are no pay stations. You will love this campground due to views, peacefulness, distance from others, just a total immersion into the environment.

WOW. Just wow. This spot is smack dab in Monument Valley, and high up in the valley so you're up above the little town below. If you're lucky the host will take you on a hike and tour of the landscape and local flora/fauna (tip well people!!!). She'll point out the different monuments, what it means to her history, different uses of the plants, and some insight into Navajo culture. It felt truly special being there. This spot is primitive, no water, no electricity, and a single outhouse not too far from camp. However, while being primitive the picnic table and structure around it is handcrafted and lovely, the fire rings are circles of rocks, and the terrane is bumpy but any car can get around. It was only $20 per night and totally worth it. Being surrounded by this incredible and awe inspiring beauty made me sad we only were able to stay one night. NOTE: We had a nice wild dog couple come by at sunset, they stayed through most of the night, and returned in the morning for food. Our host let us know they feed the wild dogs and they are all sweet. This little couple was INCREDIBLY sweet and not aggressive at all. The lady had pups recently but we never saw them. It was kinda cool having these protectors nearby who felt as natural as the trees and rocks surrounding us.

No hook ups, but still my favorite campground on our two week trip around Utah! We rarely try for campgrounds with no pre-reserved sites, but I'm glad we did this time. The host was wonderful to chat with when she stopped by in the evening to collect the $25 fee. She taught us some things about Navajo culture and the land that we were visiting. We could have listened to her tell us stories all night! The location is perfect, between the Monument Valley tribal park and the Forrest Gump spot. The view from camp was beautiful! The road in the campground is a bumpy dirt road but nothing crazy. We were the first campers to arrive that day at 2:30 pm and the pull through site we picked was plenty big for our truck plus 30ft camper. Only one other camper was there by sunset so it was pretty quiet. A neighbor's dog came by our camp. It seemed friendly but didn't come close enough to pet, it was just looking for snacks and moved on when we didn't have anything to share.

If you are looking for a truly immersive Monument Valley camping experience, Sleeping Bear Campground is your go to place! There are no hookups and only a small mobile toilet cabin. But in return you get absolutely amazing views on stunning monument valley rock formations, quiet sites, beatiful sunsets with a lot of privacy (there are less than 10 sites here). We absolutely loved it here and will definitely be back. We can 100% recommend this place to all nature loving campers going to monument valley. If you can do without Hookups and Infrastructure, you will love it here. We stayed in site No 3. We could fit two 30 ft Class C Motorhomes and a Car on it. Payment was due per RV, not per site (still was totally worth the money).

The last bit of road is unpaved, but we found it not too difficult to drive in with our 30ft vehicles. As I have not seen any reviews with RVs for this place so far I can definitely assure you all that it is no problem to stay here with a motorhome
