After coming here every year for 19 years, I’m heartbroken to be sharing a negative review of this place, but unfortunately have to share our experience. My family has been hosting two annual reunions at this location for almost two decades, and it has become a place very dear to our hearts. We have seen this place through four sets of owners, and have even put our own blood, sweat, and tears in this place to volunteer and help with manual labor at the resort several years ago. Needless to say, we have loved this place very dearly. However, after our most recent visit, we will most likely not be returning. They recently transitioned to new ownership, and many areas of the resort are in disrepair. Both playgrounds are broken and seem to be a safety hazard, the women’s camp bathroom stall door was just sitting on the ground, the lodge is rotting in the front, one of the external rooms was missing a door handle, the ice machine doesn’t work, and half of the rooms in the lodge had lights that did not work. During previous stays, we would have reported these items to the owners and would have received quick repairs. However, on this trip, there was no one on site to help. We were there for over 10 days, and not once did an owner show up or speak to us, even over email or text. The only support we had was from the camp host Michelle, who was lovely, but is only there for very limited hours due to staffing cuts. We hosted two back to back family reunions during our time there, spending thousands and thousands of dollars at this resort, and did not hear a word from anyone. The doors to the lodge were locked when we arrived, and no one arrived to help or check us in or out. There was a man staying on site in the camp host trailer for part of our stay, and when we asked him if he could get the bathroom stall, door handles, or lightbulbs fixed, he said he didn’t know when someone could fix them. We stressed that we were hosting a group of ~200 people, renting out the whole resort, and his response was “yeah, I don’t know.” There were numerous other issues during our stay, and again, absolutely no contact or support from the owners. It’s heartbreaking to see this place in this state, and I truly hope things change soon so this place can return to its full potential. This location is absolutely gorgeous and has been a special place for us for so long. I truly hope this review can provide constructive feedback and help turn things around. But as of now, I cannot recommend this location as a place to stay, and especially not as a place to...

My family and I have camped at this resort for three years now. We fell in love with the scenery and the grounds and the atmosphere. However, the new ownership and their lack of attention to this once beautiful place has resulted in losing our business. My husband and I were heartbroken to see the amenities and the cabins and lodges in disrepair. Our kids couldn’t play on the playgrounds because of the broken equipment, the lodges had visible wood rot outside and sagging floors inside. Many rooms in the lodge didn’t have working lightbulbs and one room didn’t even have a doorknob. The pond where our kids loved to swim had some sort of bacteria and our kids came home with swimmers itch. The most frustrating aspect of our experience was the complete lack of communication/attention to issues from the new owners. I truly can’t understand how you can purchase a site like this with clientele that have years of experience and memories made here and conduct business so poorly. No one was there to greet us, no one checked us in, no one got a single repair done in time for our family event. We even had to fix a bathroom door OURSELVES because it was broken off the hinges. Surely the man who showed up in the hosts spot, yet gave no help to any repairs could have gone into town for a power drill to get the job done. Yet the answer we got was “yeah, I dont know”. I understand that undertaking a place such as this is challenging and that there are going to be issues that come up, but we were so disappointed in how the new management crashed and burned so harshly. We learned that the prices are going up for reserving events or camping spots to pay for the disrepair. Now friends and family that recommended this place to us can no longer afford to come here even if it was restored to the caliber it once was. We were embarrassed to have to apologize to our guests at our event for their lodging conditions. All in all, it was just a very sad thing to see such a special place end...

The location and scenery in itself are 10/10, but the newest ownership has run such a wonderful place to the ground. They have no idea what they are doing.. and if they’re hoping to raise the prices (by more than double) and have this be a wedding venue, they are out of their minds. I stayed here for 10 days and didn’t speak a word to any of the owners even once- and not because I didn’t want to or try. In our large reunion group if 150 people, there was TWO total interactions.. Between a broken bathroom stall, a mirror fallen off, and a rented cabin room without a door knob, (just to name a few- there were many more) we were completely ignored or brushed off. The old owners and camp host were FAR more helpful and reliable both in the past and even while we were there this trip!! The cleaning crew were great and the ONLY ones we saw doing anything. I am so sad but they will no longer have my business. My friends mom has been coming for 19 years and has seen FOUR owners and this is BY FAR the worst ownership. They didn’t help or visit or accommodate a single request and in the end WE made the repairs NOT them. Our group has been reliable year after year, even helping with renovations in the past and clearly the new owners don’t care for reliable customers. Good luck on this adventure.. I hope you figure it out cuz the brides need to be warned that they will be of ZERO help on your special...

I actually haven't stayed here but the people here are awsome! Guest and staff. I lost my phone up on the mountain this past Sunday on strawberry river road a guest came across the phone while hiking and took it to the camp ground and attempted to find the owner before the battery died. Monday we went back to look for the phone where it had last pinged while looking for it a couple hiking up the road passed us and asked if we were looking for a phone and informed us that it was safe down at the campground. So I would like to say Thank you to all in the recovery of my phone! Good people at the Promised Land...
