We had a 25-year Peace Corps Reunion here in early August. Different people from all over were able to fly into to Denver and easily drive to this location. I've done other reunions in the past and the group REALLY liked this place for its accommodations and atmosphere.||||The main building is PERFECT because it has a big kitchen with two stoves, two fridges, and lots of counter space to prepare food. They have every cooking dish/pot/utensil you could ever need. They have plenty of tables and chairs to sit at, inside or outside, depending on the weather.||||The cabins, and rooms above the lodge, are cute and sufficient for a several day stay. I think they can easily sleep up to about 35 people (providing people don't mind cozying up in the "full-sized" beds. Many beds are queens and singles. ||||The location is half-way between Lyons and Estes Park. There are plenty of hiking trails around, both easy and hard. There are large grocery stores and liquor stores relatively near by (30 miles) in Longmont for shopping for large groups. Otherwise there are small stores in in Lyons and Estes, each about 18 miles away, but more expensive.||||To give you an idea of what it cost us (for you own planning): We had 22 adults and 9 kids=31 people. We were able to host a 3-day reunion for: $150 per adult (to cover the cost of the whole lodge reservation --about $3200+ with taxes for the 3 days). We charged kids only $30 total for the 3 days, to make it cheap for parents to bring them. Our food cost only about $800, and alcohol about $350. Quite cheap once divided up. There was some other math going on (due to non-drinkers and such) but it basically cost about $50 for an adult for food and alcohol for the full 3 days. Very reasonable vacation price! (after travel costs)||||The owners, Cory and Cat are on-site and helpful with any questions. We move our reunions around the country, but if we ever go back to Colorado, I would certainly go back to this lodge without a...
Read moreWe are a large family, our reunion was 32 people from all over the country. The beautiful rustic setting allowed everyone very affordable accommodations and easy access (not too far from the airport and with shuttle service). The Lodge kitchen which is big and well equipped was great for feeding our large crowd. The big main room allowed us all to gather to eat, play games, view family slideshows and simply connect. The individual cabins, private area decks, trails around the property and in the area provided private spaces that support large reunions. Cory and Cat were supportive when needed and not intrusive to our fun. When planning my lesson learned was the importance of grouping people who get along for the shared accommodations (this took time but was worth it to ensure a happy group). Cabins 1-4 are the most remodeled and spacious, 5-6 accommodates a larger number of people and you have to be more open to shared spaces. Most of the windows in cabins 5-6 did not open and we found it to be a bit warm for sleeping with the uncommon 80-degree weather when we visited. The room in the top of the lodge had a similar experience with being warm, they found an attic fan to help them. The other cabins were able to open windows and use fans. The beds were all comfortable (while not all private), there was plenty of towels and people enjoyed the hot tub. The location is far enough from Estes that you did not experience the crowds but close enough to go there if you wanted to visit the town or RMN Park. Lyons was a great choice for meals out. Boulder was great for food purchases on the way in. There were great hikes within a short drive from the lodge. Massages by Mary Hunter were AMAZING! We had a fabulous time and all the family agreed it was our best...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay here. Our friends got the entire place Thursday - Sunday for their wedding - the lodge and 6 cabins. My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins with some other folks. It all seemed just ideal for a bunch of friends hanging out in the lodge in the evenings. The wedding itself was lovely and so much fun! A lovely cocktail hour on the lodge patio, dancing in the lodge living room later on, with other folks gathering in the kitchen for more drinks and conversation. ||As far our cabin - it was small but cute! We had a full kitchen. I never used the oven or stove but there was a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker. We hit the grocery story and stocked up on supplies for a few days. My only complaint about the cabin was that I wish there were more hooks to hang stuff up! We had a lot of gear and clothes and it had rained some - we wished we had more places to hang things up. The cabin did have a pretty small eating area - just two chairs at the table. It didn't matter at all to us because everyone was on their own schedule and so many people were hanging out in the lodge at mealtimes. There were also picnic tables outside the cabin to sit at. ||The shower in our cabin was quite nice - great water pressure and hot water. The WiFi was very good as well. The cabin itself had no TV - I didn't even think about that at the time. I think maybe there was one in the lodge. No one was ever wanting to watch TV. ||We used the Hot Tub one night- It was small but very nice! My only complaint here was that there was not much lighting there, and the footing around the tub is uneven. Be careful here. ||We were about 1/2 hour from Estes Park. Close to hiking and climbing opportunities.||I would...
