BEWARE!!!
Confession: out of my absolute anger, I spoke words of frustration to the manager on the phone. I can accept responsibility and I appologize for that. But, I also don't believe I should allow people to bully me and speak to me like I am a child. I am a combat veteran who served this country faithfully until I could no longer, and I did not fight for people to treat each other like this.
I attempted to book a room online, selected the dates for the evening that I planned on bringing my family to Gunnison, and something did not work right. It ended up booking me for the same evening as the night that I was booking the hotel. I was not able to "check my email" and confirm the exact reservation within 5 minutes. According to the manager, I was supposed to call within 5 minutes if something was wrong. They did attempt to call my phone at around 11:50pm, the evening of 19 March. I did not have my phone on as I was already asleep. I did call and leave a message the very next morning to explain that something had not worked out as I expected. I was told I would receive a call back at 3pm. No call came. It took till the morning of the 21st (three phone calls and two messages) before finally getting a call back from the manager. At that point I was told how I created a problem because I didn't show up for my reservation, it was all my fault that this mistake happened, and absolutely NO understanding was shown in this situation. The manager stated they will not refund me, will not rebook me, and it was my fault for not booking the right dates. I asked to speak to the owner/manager above her. The response given was that "IF" they even come into work today, they would let them know. I then asked if they could call them or message them, and again met with a NO. If this is indicative of how they treat their customers, I would highly caution you before booking your rooms online. They told me that their online booking system is "flawless" and does not make mistakes. CAUTION! Technology is not perfect. I did my due diligence and tried to rectify the situation the very next morning. Not good enough for The Gunnison Inn at Dos Rios where the customer is never right (Yes, I even asked). Now I'm out money, extremely triggered, and completely disappointed in the TOTAL lack of customer service. No attempt was made to help me rectify the situation, even when I was trying to be reasonable and state that this was an honest mistake. According to the manager, they don't make mistakes and I am completely at fault.
Final note: the manager did indicate that they are on the phone every day with banks dealing with charge disputes. Thank you for that info as it indicates that I am clearly not the only person dealing with this and their system is CLEARLY not perfect. Folks just aren't getting on and writing the reviews that this place actually deserves.
Solution: Refund my money for products/services I did not receive, or let me actually book for the night I was attempting to stay. Please understand this was an honest mistake and I cannot explain how it happened as I know my actions on my end. But that didn't matter - according to...

Cons: Found a bed bug. Was gaslit, implied that I was a liar/scammer and threatened financially when it was brought to the front desk's attention.
I found a bed bug at around 1130pm during my stay and went in to panic mode: examining my clothing, luggage, and mattress for other bugs. Fortunately, I didn't find any other evidence of the bugs.
To be fair, I didn't call the front office when I found the bug. At that point it was around 1230 and I was tired so I figured I'd just take the L and sleep in the tub as I didn't want to find another hotel so late and there was no guarantee that the bug hadn't migrated from another room so switching rooms would have given little peace of mind.
At checkout the next morning, I told the women at the front desk about my find as quietly as possible. At NO POINT did I ask for my money back or threaten a negative review for recompense.
As I was leaving breakfast I was stopped and asked to come to the room to see their investigation. At first I thought it was a nice gesture to make me feel better about not bring any hitchhikers home. Instead it was an attempt to discredit me.
On the way over, I showed pictures that I had taken and was attempted to be gaslit that "there are lots of types bugs, it's probably not a bed bug". I'll attach the picture for the reader to make their own determination
In the room, the front desk woman and another lady showed me that there was no evidence of bed bugs on the top mattress seams, which I had seen for myself the previous night.
I was then asked to show the pictures I took again and was told "those probably aren't even our sheets" and demanded physical evidence of the bug-- essentially being accused of staging the pictures.
I was also financially threatened by being told that they would bring an exterminator in and if they didn't find anything they would charge me the cost (In a seeming attempt for me to admit that I staged it I guess???)
Again, at no point did I ask for my money back, threaten a negative review due to the bed bug find, or declare it to other patrons so I have no idea why there was so much aggression on the inn's side.
I was told that if I left a negative review they would discredit me, so I guess add intimidation to the list of things to watch out for.
Tl;dr Nice inn if everything goes smoothly. Not so nice if not....
Read moreI am a local and rented a room for My son and his girlfriend. When I called to make a reservation, the lady at the front desk told me how great the place was as how it was under new ownership.
I got a phone call at 330 am because my sons girlfriend was bitten by a bed bug. I know this for sure because the caught it in order to identify it. I called the emergency number, and have yet to get a return call, 16 hours later. The front desk actually closes at night and they don't respond to their emergency phone number.
I called and left several messages at the front desk. I still have not received a response.
I had to pick them up at 330am and try to find them another room.
When I left for work after contacting the front desk the first time I left a message for the owner or manager and drove by, it did not appear they were cleaning it in any way.when I drove home from work there was No one there doing any cleaning. It appeared as though they may have actually rerented the room tonight, so if your in room 136, you should leave now!!!
DISGUSTING!!!#!! Water wheel bed bugs part 2 So still haven't heard back. Stopped by this morning to try to get a resolution. Lady at front desk says I can't prove there were bed bugs. Well, yes I can, but regardless she told me the owner called me 3 times and left a message. I showed her my phone to prove that was not the case. She was very rude and not helpful, stating she doesn't know what time they left. I told her it was 330 am when I tried to call their emergency line. She says to me, oh that's the old owners. So their front desk is closed at night and the emergency number on THEIR front desk message belongs to someone who no longer owns or works at the hotel..
She's calling me a liar. Really? I am calling the health department, because they are doing nothing about the bed bugs, so rest assured there will be bed bugs in your bed too. Great way to start your business.
