What a wonderful find! We hope to come back next year. My husband (who loves fly fishing) said I scored a big win by booking this place.
The Wooly Bugger Inn had everything we needed for a 2-night relaxing and comfortable trip to Estes Park. The Ponderosa Suite (#1) was rustic and cozy - with wonderful attention to detail by the team. I loved the whole vibe. We were very comfortable during our stay.
The grounds are located in the bend of a lovely river - with ample space for fly fishing (see photos). I enjoyed watching my husband catch fish from the communal outdoor spaces - there are several hammocks along the river throughout the grounds. Beautiful places to take a book and read by the river.
The welcome guide book in our room was by far the most comprehensive and well laid out of any AirBnb I've ever stayed at. We took the recommendations for dining and hiking and were not disappointed.
The private hot tub was a wonderful way to relax after our adventures in the national park. Solid full-sized shower/tub. There's also a shared supply room on site - with countless things to borrow or use as you had need. We were able to borrow a map from there of the national park and it helped so much to plan our visit. Check in and check out was easy and contactless.
*Cell service was 1-bar throughout the grounds (Verizon) - and while I didn't try calling out during our visit, text messages did send and receive with a short delay. The wifi handled the very basics (email with a time delay, for example), but it wasn't strong enough for much more. That being said, it was as advertised and we loved the rustic feel and disconnecting together to enjoy the beauty of nature.
**Remote work tip: The good news for anyone who needs reliable internet a few hours a day to work remote, the local town has free wifi - and the public library is just 8-minutes away from The Wooly Bugger Inn and open until 8 pm on weeknights with its own wifi and free private study rooms available to the public. (I teach an online summer class and needed to grade a few hours a day, so we found this a great work around.) The natural beauty and peace at the Wooly Bugger Inn was well worth the limited cell service/slow wifi.
*Pro tip: We booked directly through the Wooly Bugger Inn's website - avoiding AirBnb's extra fees. We received excellent communication from the team, and I have no regrets about...
Read moreDripping Springs is now part of the 'Field Guide' collection of airbnb type accomodations. We liked the room just fine, we rented out the Lodgepole suite which I do recommend as it was on the end of the suites, with the firepit right next to it and a hot tub with a river view. It was nicely decorated and cozy, and the hot tub was super nice to soak in after a long day of hiking. There were a ton of pillows on the bed so it was very comfy and the bedding was nice. I also thought the rations room was a great touch - there were some snacks, lots of goodies for your dogs, hiking guides, board games, etc. ||The walls are thin and the decks are set close together so we honestly could hear every word our neighbors spoke (and I'm sure they did us). It's also pet friendly so we heard some dogs barking as well. So it's not the absolute best regarding privacy. Our room was clean but you are expected to strip the whole bed and take out the trash. My husband was very annoyed because upon checking out, he discovered that there was a broken prong in the outlet by his side of the bed which was a fire and safety risk. It definitely seems like a place where you're kind of left on your own - we didn't see a host or any staff the two days we were there. Which really was fine with us but I would just be aware in case you're expecting a ton of amentities or help. The shower is also very small but it was mentioned in the listing so it also wasn't really a bother. Wifi worked fine but I had close to zero cell service. ||Overall, it was cute and we enjoyed our stay. We were in the park the majority of the time so we didn't spend a ton of time in our room. It's 10 minutes from downtown Estes and it took around 20 minutes to get to the park entrances. It was a good value for the money, especially with a...
Read moreEstes park is built along mountains which have road around it and a river as well. Most nicer resorts or cabin options run along the river which is near road. Dripping springs is one more deeper off the road. The pictures from Other customers dont do the resort ustice. We stayed in pine woods cabin which to me is the best cabin its on its own and private.
