Nice little campground only about two hours from Phoenix. And it's a nice drive through mine country. Mostly designed for groups but single campsites are available. It's in a stand of Ponderosa Pine at the bottom of a little valley, but the rest of the valley is lovely hilly grassland with Pinon and Juniper pine used for grazing cattle. Plenty of hikes available through that countryside. Firewood, too. Yes, there is no water. The sites (individual) are good sized - we had no problem finding one for a 26' RV. But there are not a lot of spots in total. I imagine it fills up fast on weekends in the season. (Although to me the season is year-round - can't understand why this place wasn't full.) Toilets are just holes but are spotless with plenty of tissue. Concrete table and benches and large fire pits with movable grates for cooking. There is a self-pay machine for the fee and a couple of information bulletin boards. I don't think you can make individual reservations. I imagine you must be able to make group reservations, though. I don't know how often you'll be able to find an individual site, but it's a nice weekend if you can. And try to go on a weekend with clear weather and no moon. It's stunningly dark and the stars...

The name is a bit deceiving. The campground is designed for groups (there is a wide open group space and a loop with 12 spots that can be reserved for groups) BUT when the loop isn't reserved for a group you can stay in a single spot. Plus a day use area. Biggest downside it is RIGHT off the highway so expect road noise.

About the loop (single spaces called Brundrett 1): There are 12 spaces with co-ed bathrooms (toilet only). There are 2 large BBQs at the end of the loop, covered ramadas with picnic tables, and an oversized metal fire pit. Plenty of people were there in 5th wheels. Downside... The spaces are pretty close together.

About the group site (Brundrett 2): It's a large open space (there are some tree around the outer edges and on one side). There is a private bathroom and it's close to one of the loop bathrooms and it's close to the day use bathroom. Covered ramadas, picnic tables, BBQs, and an oversized metal fire pit. There is also a few scattered picnic tables, standing BBQs,...

Timber Camp is located about 30 miles North of Globe Az. along highway 60. This camp is very quiet and relaxing . My phone says elevation is around 5600', very enjoyable weather. Your around Pine and Scrub Oak. Plenty of shade or Sun which ever you prefer. The pay sites have picnic table, fire rings and vaulted toilets near by. The fee is $10. Or $5. with Senior or Access card per night. They have group area's that you can reserve. There is a some dry camp sites which is were we setup camp. I set in a camp chair watching birds, squirrels and lizards while the awesome sounds of the winds through the Pines bring a peaceful feeling to my soul. Heard a Turkey a couple of evening's, but no luck for a view or photo. Did a hike on fireroad, turns into a rocky upgrade quickly. Awesome view when you reach the top. There is a higher hill off a few miles, maybe next time. Will...

Updated review: Our previous stay was in one of the smaller campgrounds but we recently bought a 5th wheel and this was one of the few locations that was available and could fit our trailer. Plus we had been here before and I liked it so much. The group camp ground is amazing!! It ended up being about $75/night but as you can see in the picture you could comfortably fit a dozen large trailers or several dozen tents and still have plenty of space. So if you're looking to camp in a large group definitely consider this place!! Previous review: Loved this campground. Clean and well taken care of. Bathrooms are outhouses (no plumbing) but they are also very clean and well maintained. Plenty of space to camp with picnic tables and metal BBQ grates over every iron fire pit. Great campsite for only the cost of a Tonto Pass (~$8), 20 minutes drive from the Cibecue Falls trailhead.

Brundrett Site #2 is a great site for small group camping. You do need to plan for bringing in all the water you will need and this is a pack it in, pack it out site. The vaulted toilets in the area were clean here. There is one vaulted toilet exclusively for this group site, one right next to the ramada, and one more just across the street in the day-use lot. The group ramada had 6 tables, food prep table, and 2 grills. Two things to note: 1. It’s close to the 60/77 highway, so there will be traffic noise, even during the nights. 2. You should keep the entrance gate closed as much as possible during your stay. If left open, others will drive into this site to explore.

We used campsite number one, as there was a large party on the other end and this way everyone could have their space and privacy. All the sites were clean and easy to distinguish though. I was surprised to see three bathrooms total for 14 sites. The self pay service station was really easy to use. The only thing that could really make this place even better would be potable water. Would definitely go back though, even without that feature.
