Both me and my wife stayed at the Ute Bluff Lodge, Cabins & RV Park about 6 months ago but the place was fine. I made a reservation via phone with someone named Clint for 7 days. Clint told us on the did tell us on the phone that he was working on the water in the campground but we thought it was minor based upon our experience 6 months ago and we were just going to use the water in the Recreation & Kitchen area. When we arrived after 12 PM the office was closed, the campground, lodge, and entire area was in a shambles. Our campsite #2 had large feces around where the electric hookup with exposed wiring was located, someone had been burning trash in a central area in front of our campsite because it was littered with burnt cans and other debris and other half burnt waste, there was no trash dumpster where it was before nor anywhere on the property, the lodge had holes out front of the building and was in a state of disrepair, essentially the place looked horrible. We went into the shared Recreation & Kitchen area believing we could just cook and wash our dishes there but found piles of decaying food and dirty dishes, pans, and pots in the sink. The kitchen countertop was strewn with dirty small appliances and the entire room had the toxic smelling odor. The bathroom adjacent to the Recreation & Kitchen area was filthy with a nasty bucket inside the shower enclosure, another bucket outside the shower enclosure, and a filthy rug. The place was probably unfit for human habitation and we worried whether we would contract some nasty disease just being inside. At this point, we decided to get our money back because it the first day Tuesday, April 22, 2025 of our reserved stay but when we tried to call Clint at (719) 873-5595 we were sent to voicemail so we left a message indicating that we could not safely stay at a campground without garage service and in the unsafe condition it was in so were requesting a refund. Never heard back from Clint after so we went to the Rio Grande Sheriff's Office to file a complaint. I wrote out the complaint and spoke with Deputy Barron Robinson at the Sheriff's Office located at 640 Cherry Street, Del Norte, CO 81132 (719) 588-0814. He said this kind of deception happened all the time and there was nothing he could do about it. On the following day Wednesday, April 23, 2025 I attempted to call Clint at (719) 873-5595 but was once again sent to voicemail where I left a message that I wanted my money back for the reservation that we had made at the Ute Bluff Lodge, Cabins & RV Park. We have never heard back from Clint or anyone at associated with this seemingly defunct...
Read moreI wish I could give 0 stars as this experience was absolutely terrible. If you want a nice relaxing getaway in south fork there are plenty of places to stay, however THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! Do not waste your time as we did. The website and Google information are not accurate and have false information. There were 0 operational hot tubs on the property being a major reason we booked this location, it was our anniversary and wanted to definitely utilize the tubs and have a relaxing time. We weren't very interested in the property after that seeing as the main amenities that we booked for were not operational. The front desk lady was very uncaring of the situation, did not see the problem with anything and would not give a refund for the half deposit we already made. This would not have been as big of an issue had the situation been handled differently and the lady apologetic in anyway. Then after checking in and realizing there was a huge stain on the sheet, we went to pull the sheet back to see of further stains and take the dirty top sheet off the bed, to our surprise white powder was coming off the sheet and blankets in heaps and upon further inspection was all throughout the bed. It seemed like someone was pouring sugar packets on the bed. The microwave was filthy on the inside with food remnants and just overall the room was not as clean as you'd expect as well. We went to discuss the issue with the very rude front desk person who blatantly told us the housekeeper puts carpet powder in the beds with no concern or anything about it! We were disgusted and appalled. She offered no resolve for the situation instead just pushing us out and now offering a refund at this point which we asked for to begin with. Such a shame the property is very charming but clearly the owners have issues that need to be resolved if they care about their customers which was clear they don't in our experience. DO NOT...
Read moreWife and I travel full time in our F-450 and Grand Design 380-FLR 42Ft. 5th wheel RV. I'm a retired veteran, currently work as a VOIP IT Tech and remote work full time - We booked this site about 3 months prior to arrival. Google Maps (Street view) doesn't give this place any justice.
We booked our stay for a month. First off, the staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodated our needs everyday, mail, fantastic conversationalists, etc. This Tuesday we start Pot luck suppers, they have chocolate cookies at the front counter, a rec room and a host of other things around the lodge that give it that clean rustic look and home town feel. This lodge can accommodate a LOT of people in their cabins and RV park. In the middle of the property there's a gathering place that can easily hold 50 people and fire pits and soon to be resurrected, a Tee-Pee. The prices are VERY reasonable for this area. Internet is pretty descent 35Mbx10Mb over Wi-Fi. We were in the middle of the Park and signals for AT&T and Verizon had 5 bars each.
Our RV site was about 60 ft. long, compacted gravel and the property is well maintained. When we backed into our spot, we are right up against the bluff, it is SO serene. RV Park has full hookups 50/30 AMP, sewer hookup and water is fresh and clean. So far, we've seen a LOT of deer grazing early mornings with some frisky chipmunks running around, Magpie birds and a few walking trails on the property that you can climb to the top of the bluff. FANTASTIC views surrounding the properties and the Rio Grand River is across the street. Water is COLD.. South Fork local stores and restaurants aren't too abundant but you're a hop skip to closer larger cities for larger grocery shopping needs. I need not mention how beautiful this place is, we're in Colorado.
We HIGHLY recommend this place, it's...
