My husband, 5 yr old son and I ATTEMPTED to stay at Wander Camp Grand Canyon, October 18th 2024. I waited to write this review to collect my thoughts because we had a REALLY terrible experience. We flew in Minnesota to visit Zion and Grand Canyon. We camp every fall, and thought a change of scenery would be nice. The previous three nights we stayed at a different Glamping resort. We had a great experience! We were warm in spite of the freezing temps with a large propane heater that came INCLUDED with the stay, had a place to cook, eat, sleep, use the restroom. To be expected right? We arrive at Wander Camp... let me paint you a picture. It's getting dark, sloppy wet snow is making it very difficult for your rental car to traverse the narrow barely maintained dirt road. You arrive to see a shoddy little trailer manned by someone who wishes they were somewhere else. You ask for the heater you paid extra for and also reserved a week in advance to make sure you had it. You get handed a tiny heater with enough propane to last hopefully 4 hours on low. You ask if you will get another propane tank for the next night. The guy shrugs and says "Maybe." We move on to the tent to make dinner. You are not allowed to bring food into the tent because of animals. But you are not provided a picnic table to cook or eat on. The only place to cook is 300 yards away from our site and there is no shelter. Just a couple tables in the middle of the nowhere. I'm supposed to cook and eat with my 5 yr old out in the freezing sleet?! And that food truck that is advertised on the website? Don't count on it friends!! It wasn't there. We manage to eat, and it's getting dark. Oh, yeah I was supposed to be provided a lantern. Not there. I walk back to the host who is hiding in their car with a Scream Mask hanging on the passenger seat (My son did NOT like that, vey unprofessional and uninviting!!) I ask about our lantern. He says "Sorry they are solar powered and it was cloudy today." Ummm. Yeah but I paid for a lantern, don't you prepare for this stuff? I walk away feeling like this place was a huge mistake. We decide to crawl into bed at 6pm because we are freezing. Yes, we have our base layers on, sweatpants, jackets, hats, and mittens because that heater is doing NOTHING to warm our tent. My husband and I are looking at each other like "Do we try to tough out the night?" Well, God helped us answer that question because at 9pm the tent RIPS OPEN and collapses on top of us. OUR TENT RIPED OPEN ON TOP OF US. My son is screaming uncontrollably and I just start laughing. It literally couldn't be worse. I was relieved. We were going to get the hell out of there and get our money back. We get our son packed up in the warm car. My husband and I dig our belongings out of the tent and we drive up to the host. I say "Our tent collapsed on top of us." He says "Let me get you another one." I say "No, we are leaving, we want a refund." He calls his manager and she texts me an apology and says we will get refunded our stay with them and our hotel stay refunded. Mind you, it is now 9:30pm on a Friday night. Finding a hotel was very difficult. We eventually found a Best Western in Bellmont (Don't stay there! Way too expensive for what you get.) But we still haven't been refunded our hotel stay. We have been asking and asking. They just stopped responding. Seriously the worse hospitality experience I have ever had. Only come here if you need nothing but a tent and a bed. Even so, you are paying too much if that is all you need.

Very underwhelming. The tents are spaced so close together that you can actually hear your neighbours farting. You can’t even have a campfire at your site because all 6 fire pits are near the entrance to the campground meaning you have to beat 49 other groups of campers just to have a fire, if you’re not lucky enough to secure a campfire or the one game of cornhole then you have nothing to do after dark but sit in silence. For the price you pay, you would think you at least get a space heater to heat the tent which gets near freezing at night, but instead all you get is one dimly lit lantern, we just used our dollar tree ones cause they were brighter. There were also stains on our bedsheets. On the bright site, there are four showers and toilets near the campground entrance (not directly in the “accommodations” like the ad suggested) which you can wait in line for in the morning, however, the bathrooms are just one toilet about a foot away from the showers, and the showers only run when you hold the frayed and soggy rope. We were supposed to stay here for two nights, but we were so underwhelmed that we just ate the money and camped on BLM land in the Kaibab national forest the second night which proved to be a more enjoyable experience and was free. I was hesitant to contact the camp host as I’ve read numerous reviews claiming the owner offered incentives such as free space heaters or refunds for positive reviews. The guy who checked us in seemed nice though, that’s the one good thing I have to say about this place.

This was EXACTLY what I was looking for & THEN SOME! It was the cherry on top on my grand canyon cake! It was off the grid but close to the canyon, beautiful scenery, clean restrooms and shower area, hot running water, nice common rest area for camp fires overlooking the mountains (although there was a fire restriction in place so we couldn't make one), the tents were huge (I'm a pretty big guy) so the fact I wasn't hunched over while in there was a huge plus, and you're greeted by wildlife (Black tailed jack rabbits mostly... no they didn't have trix). I stayed 2 nights in the king tent and the twin tent but both King sized and twin sized beds were nice and soft and clean, when I read camp site I assumed we'd be sleeping on the floor so I was amazed at the modern camping style and they even serve meals and snacks! (We got up too early and came back to late to purchase any but it was nice to know they were there) Definitely a must book if you're visiting the Grand Canyon between March and November I believe is how long they're out there. AND THE STARS AT NIGHT 🤩 I can honestly go on and on, if you're looking for an economical place to stay book here! I will definitely be looking for Wonder camp when I go back. Thanks guys for the once in a lifetime experience, I loved every minute of it

We were not warned of what to expect, so I hope my review can help warn others to avoid what we experienced. The initial road to get into the camp is about a 3 mile dirt road where we drove 5-10 mph due to the rocks and bumpiness of the road in our small HRV rental. As creepy and off-putting as that was at night, the scariest part was the last small but very steep hill that caused our car to slip as we were trying to get up it. Being alone in the wilderness and dark with my 12-year-old daughter and my senior mother slipping up a dirt hill was NOT what I was expecting when I purchased a "glamping" trip for them. We decided immediately we would not want to risk anything happening to the rental we were driving or us so we would not make the trip again for the second night we had reserved. We were greeted by a nice girl and the tent itself was cute, but not cute enough to make up for the extremely poor customer service I received with their admin team, who I was directed to contact with my request to cancel the second night and not be charged or be refunded due to their negligence in warning us of potential danger driving in. That night, I used their chat service and emailed our issues. Someone responded to the chat but only that they were made aware of my concerns by the girl who greeted us. The next morning, we woke up in an extremely stuffy, hot tent where the sun was shining directly on us and there was zero airflow. We opened the flaps in the tent but the flaps were at the bottom, missing all of the beautiful breeze outside. It was literally cooler outside under a tree than in the tent. But they don't even allow you to take the chairs outside. I was admittedly miserable and called the customer service as nobody was responding in the chat anymore. After not getting through and the voicemail being full, we decided to just pack up and leave since we were exhausted and upset and hot. After that, I was ready to just sleep in my car near a gas station as that seemed a better option than what we just paid for. I tried unsuccessfully to get a hold of somebody as I was trying to enjoy our trip to the Grand Canyon. Finally, somebody responded to my Mom's text and they stated it was not within their policy to refund even though they still could have simply not charged me for the day we weren't going since it was about 10 am by that point. They also tried to blame the 3rd party booking, but I know that hotels/businesses have to approve refunds/no-charge cancellations before the 3rd party can release that to us. They simply didn't want to. They never responded to my email (even 3 days later now) and we never spoke with anybody on the phone. This was the worst part for me. As a business, to have greedy practices says something about your product. If you have a good product, it backs itself up and you don't have to resort to keeping money you don't deserve. You take care of your customers and are responsive to their concerns and apologetic. This company takes zero accountability for their failings. If you read other reviews with similar experiences that I, unfortunately, only read after ours when I was curious if we were alone and we were NOT, you'll see they deflect the blame and just try to explain why others should keep booking there. Many others, like us, accepted losing money and not staying all the days they reserved over ever coming back. That says enough. Please avoid ever dealing with people who don't think you're worth their time and would rather disappoint an entire family's experience over a couple hundred dollars, than to present themselves as a trustworthy business.

Thanks...
