Our family of 6 just returned from a 2-nt stay. This was the second time we stayed there & were again overall happy with the accommodations. The owners are very helpful, kind, & personable. The location is perfect if you choose to ski at Wolf Creek. The beauty of the area is breathtaking. |If you book, you will not be disappointed. Know however, that the housekeeper “hates rugs!” (Her exact words when I suggested that a large indoor rug for front door area to catch additional dirt would be ideal.) Perhaps her repulsion is the reason there is not a single rug to be found in Cabin B. Sooooo bring your slippers & get used to sweeping the floor a few times a day. We immediately took off all boots/shoes at door to keep dirt to minimum. Next time I just might bring our own all-weather rug and perhaps even a small bath mat. Stepping out of shower onto bare floor (no matter how “new” it is, is never enjoyable.) Aside from receiving an unpleasantly defensive & defiant retort from the housekeeper after a simple suggestion, our stay was...
Read moreHIGHLY RECOMMENDED... About 10 miles closer to the Wolf Creek Ski Area than others with similar names that are actually in South Fork, this is the REAL Wolf Creek Ski Lodge and the best place for Wolf Creek skiers and riders to stay. The basic rooms are recently remodeled, have full kitchens, new heaters, flat screens, DVD players, warm new bedding, split bathrooms that make getting ready faster, and rooms are attached to a store with food, drinks, supplies, gas, a library of free DVDs for guests, and a dog named "Radar"! It's all family run by the nicest people. I highly recommend Wolf Creek skiers drive right through South Fork and find the original ski lodge with "RANCH" in its name. You'll be 10 miles closer to the ski area and you'll be staying at "Wolf Creek RANCH Ski Lodge." If you see a sign for a ski lodge without "RANCH" in the name when you reach the edge of South Fork proper, keep driving another 10 miles toward the ski area, you're almost to Wolf Creek Ranch Ski...
Read moreBetween South Fork & Pagosa Springs, just before Wolf Creek Pass summit, you may miss this motel-looking place, but do not be fooled by the older looking exterior. The rooms are modern, clean and come with a kitchenette. They also have gorgeous looking cabins/lodges in back. The staff were friendly and there was always someone in the office between 4pm & 9pm so that we (family of 4) could exchange our towels for fresh ones. My only complaints were minor. First, there was only one hook in the bathroom that could fit 2 towels & one hand towel ring, so for a family of four we had to be creative in hanging 4 bath towels and 4 face cloths. The other issue was the ice near the front of the door and the door itself was so hard to open that I had to put my shoulder into it. Other than that it was a great location and ended up really close to the skiing area and the summit where we met the...
