While I hadn't been here for many years my family and I decided trying camping here overnight one weekend at the beginning of August. The nicer campgrounds with grass and kept toilets were full and the man at the window said we were unlikely to find an open spot since they are usually booked four months ahead. He was friendly and suggested we try finding a beach spot. We knew about the beach camping but were unsure due to their not being any restrooms in close proximity to the beach with the water being so low. Nonetheless we decided to try it out. The beach camping is available by capacity so it's up to each party to find a spot. The price is five dollars less than the campgrounds and there are no camp hosts. We were lucky to find a spot with a fire pit and a table. We ended up letting someone else take our table since we had one with us. There were a lot of people side by side along the beach but it's a large area and doesn't feel crowded. The crowd seemed to be a mix of families with kids and pretty much anyone else you'd find out camping. Our neighbors weren't terribly loud at night like it can be sometimes but during the day there was a lot of noise from boats and ATV's. The day long winds made it difficult to produce our own shade and the sun was hot but the wind did help with keeping the heat down. There is a lot of comfy sand and you don't need to wear shoes which is nice. We also thought it was nice not having to stress much about knowing where our kids were as we could see them the whole time from our camp. The wind made it impossible to keep their hats on but luckily they were shellacked with sunscreen. The restrooms were pretty far from our camp and were not very clean such as there being dried feces covering the floor and walls and toilet paper strewn about. Who does this? Luckily we had three outhouses to choose from and another wasn't so bad. Overall we enjoyed our stay here as it welcomed a relaxing atmosphere where we could just be and not have to constantly worry if our kids were being eaten by bears or having to trek to a lake infested with snakes. That's a little extreme, it happens sometimes. We'll consider camping here again. Also, do not park on "black sand". You will get stuck. We were told that the tow fee for that is $500. We only paid $16 for the night and...

Love it! So many different things people can do at yuba. Fishing from shore or by boat. Water ski, tubing, wake boarding, camping under the stars, in tents, or camp trailers. There is a place you can rent things like jet ski, boats, paddle boards, wave runners, 4 wheelers, side by sides, and other toys and games. They also have a place you can go in and sit down and eat or out side to eat can order a pretty large variety of food that tastes great from their lil grill. Ice cream, shakes, fries just about anything you could want. The have some grocery items you might need during yer stay or might have left at home good prices very friendly service with public bathrooms there in that building. But there is also numerous other public bathrooms throughout the park. You can also do things like zip lining and archery shooting. As of 2017 the park pass per vehicle was $10.00. It truly seems to have have something for everyone! And always seem to find great and friendly people that are always willing to help if you might get stuck driving in places with to deep and soft of sand or maybe other things. Beautiful scenery and great times always there to be had. Highly recommend the...

It's awesome you can pee on the beach as there's no one around to stop you. . True freedom.. There's even a lot of boaters around which is nice because when they hit the lake you can refill your food and drinks from their coolers.. Saves a trip to the store before you go camping. And leaves you with more money for crack! Oh and don't buy beer most boaters coolers have that too. Last year I found a wallet in one of the boats while the owner was sleeping. . Cha-ching free trip. This is the life. Money for nothing and beer for free.

I think I'm going to bring a trailer this year and choose a free boat while they sleep then I can sell and camp more often.. Yeah maybe I'll quit my job at Wendy's and follow them home and move into there back yard. Hey you know what they say err I say. If you're not around to stop me is mine! ! Hahaha. . I'm so cool and smart.. That third grade education really paid off.

P.S. just kidding. . Hope you...

We found a really great spot on the beach. It was really clean, I think it depends on where you camp on the beach though, and who was there before you because we did see some spots with broken glass. Mosquitoes got bad sometimes and there were a lot of flies at times too but the bugs weren't bad enough to ruin our experience. The water was the perfect temp, not too cold. Our kids had a blast swimming and playing in the sand all day.

we were at painted rock last night. nice enough park, clean, roads are paved and shelters over nice picnic tables. water and electrical hook ups. trash cans and out houses. beach is now a cow pasture as there is no water in the lake. the host is not to be found, don't know where he hides. it was so hot there, the air con had to run until dark and with no lake, it could have been a better experience.
