Unfortunately we have had a terrible time with management. We have camped there for the last 7 years and never had an issue with billing or such random things like gravel and pet fences until this year. The manager appeared to be intoxicated most of the time and was never in the office or available to answer the phone. Many guests are pulling out simply because no one is in the office to take a reservation or to take money for an overnight stay. We've never had any issues with temporary enclosures for pets. IIt appears that there is favoritism among the current manager and and a select few of the tenants. It's a shame really. We have made alot of wonderful memories in the past 7 years . There was supposed to be a small 4th of July party with hamburgers and hotdogs but the manager went to a private party there at the campground and I guess the money for the food went with her. At one point with the previous manager, there were drug issues. Once that was taken care of we all were looking forward to a drug free experience but instead we have a manager now that goes from camp site to campsite looking for " pot". I'm very sorry for the negative reviews but for such a nice Campground to go downhill so quickly is a shame. Again, we have been seasonal campers for 7 years and we were devastated regarding the changes. I do not foresee this place surviving the current owners and management. The money is going right out the door. Since the Campground offers no amenities but the creek, I would think they would try to...

God's country!!! Stillwater is a gorgeous remote campground on Hwy 127 that is minutes from the state capital of Kentucky. Nature is GORGEOUS here!! The new management has treated us absolutely WONDERFUL!!! After selling our home and in between building a new home, we came with our 30' camper and planned on staying a week in seasonal camping while our utilities were installed on our land.. The utilities and excavation were much slower being completed than we had planned. Therefore, the new management crew were kind to accommodate us by allowing us a space in the permanent campground area. Our neighbors are all great and we feel very safe. We even were able to get a campground lot with a nice wood covered porch. Its been great. I couldn't have asked for a better situation while we await our land to be ready. Our build site is only 15 minutes from the campground. Stillwater Management has been a true blessing for us. This campground is the PERFECT spot for us to park our camper until our land is ready. We've met really nice campers. Great place for canoes and floating on the river. Nature is fantastic here!!! Don't hesitate to visit this wonderful facility. ...

Booked a two-night stay on our last leg of a 2500-mile trip from Iowa to Virginia and back to Iowa. I appreciate the effort to recover from a flood in April, and the grounds looked good even with limited facilities. However, we were arriving afterhours so left two messages at the office and didn't really expect a response just wanted to advise staff on our 6pm arrival. We got to the campground and no surprise the office was closed and there were no instructions on afterhours check in, so we drove to our reserved campsite, and it was occupied. We chose another unoccupied site to try to get setup before dark and the imminent rain. We left another message advising our reserved site was occupied and where we set up for the night, no response. We woke up the next morning and decided to end our trip, pack up and leave. The only assistance we received was from another camper directing us to dump stations and a camper leaving assisted my wife with the dumpster and trash. We left another message advising we were leaving after only one night stay and you can do what you will with the last night. We won't be back, looked like a nice area but will more than likely avoid Kentucky...

I only went tubing and did not stay in the campground, they have a 10.00 parking fee for day use but offered the same hospitality that they offered to the folks camping. We dropped our things near the put in spot and parked at the get out point (all of this is easily walkable the river horseshoes around the campground. We met a lovely gentleman that moved to the property in 1938 and he offered rides and help moving gear on his side by side. It was an honor to meet him and you could tell he loves the place and what he does. The rest of the staff was just as pleasant. You can take your own equipment or buy tubes at the camp store. The river was clean and very relaxing. They have full hook up sites, electric/ water sites and primitive available. Bath house and bathroom’s available with a couple of port o pots in the areas further from the main buildings. So worth the trip and I plan to go back and enjoy their amenities more.

Tent area was great! Clean, well groomed. Shady areas. You can choose sites or random secluded spots close to the Elkhorn creek. Saw walking and hiking trailheads. This is a destination for anyone - walkers, hikers and nature lovers. I bikepacked in late Friday from Lexington as a shakedown cruise for the newly modified touring bicycle. If coming on 127 from Frankfort by bicycle there is a wide clean shoulder. Some challenging climbs! Met the general manager and hostess Tracy. She was awesome! Gracious and caring. Leaving a 5 star+ for everything about the campground. Great two days. 130 miles round trip, included some Bluegrass Cycling Club miles on Friday morning. Saturday was my 73rd birthday, guess I still have some endurance! Bring my son next trip. Thanks Tracy!
