We visited this hotel for a four day visit with an antique automobile club. The hotel was an older one, but it was kept in very tidy condition. It does have a pool on one side of the building, and a small breakfast room. The hotel was very itself very quiet, in a very quiet corner of the city, just off the highway on a frontage road.
What makes this hotel is the staff. By going to many of these events over the years. I have not seen staff so willing to assist to make the stay for the group as best as possible. They certainly go above and beyond here, and were always available whenever any assistance was needed.
They also are very knowledgeable of the area, being able to pass along recommendations of restaurants and other items for anyone who asked.
The price was definitely right here. Especially with everything else going up in price these days. The rates we found at this Baymont was very reasonable, especially for such a good value for service.
The breakfast is what one will standardly find in a continental breakfast. Cereal, bread, some fruit, two different types of juices, yogurt, waffle maker, and there are up to two hot food items. Some of the days it was eggs and sausage patties (as large as a medium hamburger), and others it was biscuits and gravy, which actually had meat...

The room was nice and clean, staff was friendly, and breakfast was good. The only downside of our stay was that a patron threw a birthday party in her room for her child. 25+ kids were dropped off at Baymont and relatives came too. Only guests and guests staying in the room at check in are supposed to be the only ones using the pool/hot tub area. This patron had her childs 25+ friends and the patroms relatives used the pool/hottub. They overtook this area. Paying guests were unable to use the pool/hottub. As I was checking out I mentioned it because all of them were already in the pool at 10 am. The front desk attendant said she had spoken to the patron numerous times and so had others but to no avail. They didn't know what steps to take next. That really was my only issue. My 15 year old son and I got to swim Saturday night for a bit without the kids over running it. That's the fault of the non listening patron that we hardly got to swim. Maybe have a next step for non listening patrons when it comes to the pool area. They had already told her numerous times...Just...
Read more$299 for 2 nights, on a weeknight, in a dated hotel outside of Freeport, IL is crazy. Plus they charged us $40 more than what we signed up for.
The carpet was extremely dirty, with big dark spots, perhaps asphalt from the construction workers that were staying there. The outside doors were unsecured, propped open because the locks didn't work. We had to keep the windows closed due to the stench of the dumpsters right outside. Otherwise the room appeared fairly clean, but dated.
The most disappointing was the check-out with an unexpected $40 charge. The woman at the front desk explained that it was for the pet fees for 2 days. She had told us that the hand-written total she gave us before check-in included the pet fee, but upon check-out, she said it didn't. We were not able to tell because she just gave us the subtotals by day, and did not show us the detail. When we signed the paperwork at check-in, there were no charges to review and no receipt sent via email.
She pulled her supervisor in to assist. She admitted that she gave us the wrong hand-written total. But both said that there was nothing they could do about it (to make it right). I plan to dispute the $40 on...
