We had an amazing stay in cabin 32, the deluxe cabin with a loft. I had never been to a place like this before and I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities. They really make you feel like you are camping on your friend's property. |Kitchen was well stocked for utensils, plates, pots, pans, soap, paper towels. We used our own sponges and kitchen towels and a few mixing bowls for bigger meals. I way over packed kitchen gear! Gas grill, Warm showers, great a/c (baby monitor said the queen bedroom was 65 degrees in July!), great creature comforts for those looking for a glamping experience. The outside porch was lovely, though we somehow had more bugs on our site than our family that stayed in a basic cabin down the way. They deliver ice and firewood quickly. They text you when fun stuff is beginning, like the kids train rides or music night by the fire and when the store was closing. I really appreciated that for my 3 year old who loved that train.|The pool can get crowded but we always got a space and people were respectful of the little kids needing more space. The pool has two steps to get in the shallow end which was great for my 15 month old to play. The place is big but not so big. A quick run back to the cabin for something was totally possible.|It's very quiet at night, but not dead. I'm used to camping next to a bunch of drunk guys and that is NOT what this was. Just people sitting by their fire talking. |The staff was wonderful and knowledgeable and went above and beyond. I loved it. I rebooked immediately.|We did have two notes about the cabin sleeping arrangements. First, the bunk beds were very uncomfortable. We saw the bunk beds in another cabin and they were twice the thickness of what's in the deluxe cabin. We weren't expecting great mattresses, but our friends left early it was so hard on them.|Second, the loft. It's very short My 3 year old kept bonking his head, it's SHORT up there. And the stairs are steep. it's great for elementary+ aged kids, but I wound up sleeping up there because i was scared for my little one in the middle of the night. It's carpeted with two mattresses like the bunk beds on the floor. It was fine for me, but the carpet was a little on the questionable side for me. My son kept telling me about the toothpaste on the floor?? I imagine it's tough to get a good vacuum up there and it wasn't totally disgusting,...

Read moreThis year, we tried a new campground and I have to say - this was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had camping. It’s perfect for a newbie or someone who’s been camping as many years (or more) as me.
They’ve thought of everything- jumping pillow, pool, playground, tether ball, Gaga ball, huge chess pieces you have to move by walking on the board. There are places for the grown ups who’d rather gather to sit or swing. There’s a huge community firepit, a store that has anything you might have forgotten. They have four sets of washers and dryers, a microwave, a book library. They have a bunch of weekend activities (they text to remind you just before they start), AND (my favorite part!) they deliver ice and firewood to your site at no charge!! All you have to do is text and they run it by! They have a whole snack bar, slushies, cold and hot beverages (adult and non). If you buy a frozen pizza, they’ll cook it for you. On top of that, they have the Kamping Kitchen, which has three sinks (which do have hot water!) for washing dishes, as well as three electric stoves. And they pick your garbage up from the end of your driveway - no lugging it or hauling it on the hood of the car on the way out.
They have primarily pull-through RV sites, though they have spots for tents, and they also rent a variety of really cute cabins with porches, grills, fire pits, and comfortable outdoor seating. So for those who’ve not gone camping before, those are a little pricier than a tent site, but you could find out if you like it without investing in the gear. Some even have bathrooms!
You can bring food into the pool area and there are tables and lounge chairs scattered throughout the pool deck. The landscaping is beautiful and it truly felt like a getaway for us. The extra money we spent on our tent site would have been spent on things to do in the area anyway, this way, we got to enjoy things right there.
We did also wander into town - it’s like stepping back in time; people were sooooo nice and friendly everywhere we went (including the KOA). We wandered at night and felt completely safe. Around the corner in town, we found a community pool, grocery store, mini golf course, cute shops, and some great places to eat. And a few minutes away is a state park (Lake Le-Aqua-Na) with a massive lake with camping, fishing, hiking, eagle watching,...
