IF YOU ARE QUESTIONING whether you want to stay…continue to read. I typically don’t leave reviews but I felt compelled by our visit. I want to share my experience in hopes someone else can have the same experience.
This family friendly, AFFORDABLE campground has been one of the very best camping experiences our family has had yet.
I want to first say the staff is the reason our family will be back. They were extremely friendly and thoughtful of their guest. They genuinely care about their customers and it definitely shows.
Currently, it’s a smaller campground and for us that was perfect. The amenities offered were more than enough to accommodate our family. They provided games and entertainment the Friday and Saturday night of our stay.
The camp store/office has all your basic camping essentials plus more. They provided wifi and the signal was top notch. It worked great at our tent site.
The pool was one of the cleanest pools we have seen at a campground. We have a 2 year old and the splash area at the beginning of the pool was perfect for younger kids who want to wade or adults who want to tan. The patio area can accommodate a crowd while also providing personal space.
They offer golf cart rentals to their guest and for us it was a great decision. It made for a fun time exploring all of the campground. They have 2 trails you can hike, one of which you can drive the golf cart on and it leads to the river. We didn’t get a chance to hike the Willis Creek trail but are planning a return stay and will definitely partake in that.
The playground area was a great place to spend some downtime with the toddler. Which also offered games of horseshoes, Gaga pit, and tether ball so something for the whole family.
The clubhouse is a fantastic place to socialize and meet new friends. We played the giant game of checkers, corn hole and ping pong among the many other games offered. If you forgot your charcoal, no worries they offer a gas grill at the clubhouse to use at your convenience.
They also offer a small laundry facility that is open 24 hours. This was essential for us tent camping to wash our towels and wet clothing during our stay. I didn’t think I would need this amenity but I sure did.
Now, for the part everyone questions when staying at a campground…the bathhouse. It was spotless! It is air conditioned as well, which is lovely for the hot summer months. I also loved that the bathhouse/restrooms offered a changing table for their small guest in both the women and men’s.
Along with tent sites they offer RV, Cabin, and Dome rentals. This allows just about everyone no matter age or disability to enjoy camping! For RV, Cabin, and dome rentals they offer to set up a private hot tub for you to use during your stay which I thought was such a cool amenity! We took a drive to see the RV, cabin, and dome sites and they looked great. I think RV sites 233, 235, 238, 239, and 240 offer the most space but all sites were nice.
We stayed at tent site 2. The tent sites are a little close to each other but that wasn’t an issue for us. Most of our time was spent at the pool and clubhouse. The other tent guest were welcoming and courteous. The tent sites do offer water and electrical. We brought a 100ft extension cord which was more than adequate. The only complaint which didn’t bother our stay but I think since I’m giving an honest review it would be worth mentioning is the sites are on a slope. The picnic tables do lean slightly. Our fire pit was also leaning which isn’t wasn’t a big deal but if you have smaller children in chairs be cautious as to placement so they don’t tilt forward and fall towards the fire. Again, this wasn’t really an issue for us but for some people that could be different. We would totally stay again and again. They are clearing land to add additional RV sites and with that they may add more tents sites or even out the current sites.
No matter how you like to camp this campground has something for everyone and within budget. If you are looking for a laidback camping experience,...
Read moreWe visit many of campgrounds throughout camping season, we figured to give this campground a shot since I have read a lot of good reviews about it and it is close to so we decided to give it a shot. We typically take our camper but it's in the shop for some warranty work so we decided to get a cabin and try it out. First off the grounds are nice, I don't want to take away from the work and money they have spent, the place has great potential. The entry to the park with a travel trailer I could see being a challenge as it is up hill and gravel with on coming traffic coming down the hill at a fast pace of speed I would hate to see an accident happen here, they may want to think about at least paving the first couple hundred feet of the entrance to the park. We met very friendly staff when we checked in and the manager even offered the kids free slushy which was a nice treat. My biggest issue is that our cabin had roaches, don't get me wrong it's the outdoors, the first one I ignored. But after encountering quite a few over our 2nd day there I made Jake the manager aware. He did seem to care but didn't even offer to move my family to a different cabin, the resolution was some dollar general roach traps. I would assume that they may have pest control company spraying these but after encountering what we did I was a little in disbelief. I have included pictures. Also you can ride down to the Broad River but the walking trail to the river is steep and lose gravel, walking with kids can be a challenge and very easy to slip and fall. Also the trail down to Willis Creek is very very steep at the bottom, they should put some hand rails up or something, I see that area only being an accident waiting to happen. The pool area was very nice but too cold to experience, also nice little play area for the kids. We might bring the camper back but we will not being staying in a...
Read morePros: dome was very clean and in some ways even better than presented online (heated mattress, dog crate provided), hot tub was nice to have right out back. Grounds were clean and my daughter enjoyed gem mining. Cons: despite very thorough information provided via email when we booked we were completely unable to reach the property when we had questions. I emailed at the provided address prior to our arrival with a simple question, never received any response. Upon arrival the front office was locked and closed. We arrived at 4:30, information provided by the property listed check in by 6 or that occupants make other arrangements. We were confused, as was another camper who arrived at the same time. I called and left a message at the listed number with no response, left a voicemail. Eventually, we found that our key was left in the "late arrival box", despite us not being late at all and no communication from the property stating the had made alternate arrangements. Due to the office/store closing early we were unable to purchase firewood on site (information provided by the property stated we could not bring in our own) and therefore we were left without a fire our first night. I emailed again that first afternoon to see if there were any other arrangements available for firewood. To this day I have not received any response to multiple emails or voicemail. Just so strange.
In conclusion, this place was perfect for our needs for a weekend trip with our small family but book at your own discretion as they will not respond if any issues...
