First let me start out by saying that there was nothing wrong with the actual site and grounds. It was very typical for a site around Lake Lanier. The problem was with the loud music being played by the site across from us, and the way the situation was handled. Quiet time begins at 10:00pm. The site across from us continued to blast loud music from one of their motorcycles. The first call that I made was to the site host at around 10:15-10:30pm - no answer. The next call was made to US Army Core of Engineers Project Management Office (the other phone number on the provided information sheet that we received when we first got there). The gentlemen that I spoke with said he would call a park ranger out there. That never happened. The guests that were staying with us had a tent, so they could hear everything! They finally couldn’t take it anymore, and they ended up packing up everything at around 11:30pm and leaving.
The next morning (July 4th!) we decided that we weren’t ready for another round of Hank Williams JR and The Charlie Daniels band while trying to sleep. Nothing wrong with those bands. I love them just as much as they do - just not at midnight when we’re trying to sleep. We had one more day on our reservation, but did not want to stay for the above mentioned reason. We packed up everything and decided to talk to the camp host about getting a refund for the un-used day. The gentleman that we spoke with was the same one who told them to turn the music down the night before. He stated that all he can do is to tell them to turn it down. The next step is to call the Park Ranger or just call 911. He did not have any resolution for getting a refund for the un-used day, nor did he offer to move us to a different spot.
Unfortunately, this is not our first rodeo when it comes to this sort of thing. The last time we stayed at a campsite off Lake Lanier we had a similar situation. That time was worse, not only due to noise, but actual soccer balls bouncing off the side of our camper late at night…..During that situation, the site host took ownership of the problem and called the Ranger himself. The next morning the site host and the Ranger met with us and comped the previous night off, gave us a free day, and even offered to move us to another site. NONE of that happened this time. It was more like an ‘oh well’ kind of attitude. As a side-note, there are not any pictures of the actual campsites when you are booking your site. The ‘map’ is also deceiving. We thought we were getting a site on the water (according to the online map. Instead, we were across the street...
Read moreI don’t even know where to begin. This was (sadly) my family’s very first RV park experience and it was awful for SO many reasons. The first night I had to take my 6 mnth old son to the ER and we were locked out of the gates when we came back. I parked my car and received a knock the next morning, rudely telling me to move it. They did not show any compassion in regards to the reason I got locked out in the first place. The older couple that so luckily works and lives for FREE on the campgrounds, are the worst. The rest of the workers are tolerable. The second day, we were to move to another site due to a previous reservation. Checkout is 1pm. They came knocking at 12:30 telling us to move, again, rudely. Once we moved, we got settled, and at midnight that night their power box shut all our power off. We had no emergency number to call for that and no one was willing to accommodate us. That morning, we had to move in the pouring rain with two small children, and again no accommodations were made, even though it was THEIR issue in the first place. We then reserved 4 nights at another site but forgot that they counted the one night that we had no power at the previous site. So they came knocking, telling us our reservation was up and that they would call the park rangers to escort us out if we did not leave. It was not even checkout time yet at the time they came to tell us this. My husband was not here, yet they expected me to pack all of our stuff up, hitch and pull our 30ft RV, drive my own car, and everything within 15 minutes. I was shaken up and very saddened at the lack of compassion with this place. We have brought a fair amount of business in our short time here, and none of that mattered. When I told one of the employees at the gate about our experience, he simply said that this place was made by the military, and that it is run like a military, he even suggested my family go elsewhere for a more family friendly and accommodating environment if that is what we were looking for. Isn’t that what everyone is looking for? I am appalled with this place. It was not relaxing, it was full of anxiety and fear and I do not recommend this place at all. Don’t let the pretty...
Read moreUpon our arrival we found camp host, Frank, to be unnecessarily rude and unpleasant. We have camped at Bolding Mill many times and this is by far our worst experience overall. We found the campground overgrown, unkempt, and downright unsanitary. The dumpsters were overflowing with trash to the point where people had started piling trash onto the ground. Even after the trash company emptied the dumpsters on the second day of our stay, trash stayed littered on the ground beside the dumpsters throughout the remainder of our time there. The bathrooms were disgusting and not cleaned on a regular basis. The toilet in the picture was in this condition for two days by the time I decided to take a picture as proof of how unsanitary the conditions were. The same can be said for the fire ring in a site that had been vacant for two days that still had trash piled in it. The grass was knee high throughout the park in an environment where children play. Snake bites and ticks were a definite concern. The wooden play structure beside the guard shack is non-existent now so the "playground" consists of a whopping four swings. We were saddened to see the condition of the park as we have many fond memories of camping here since our children were small. If things continue on in this direction we will have to reconsider camping here...
