Came up for the weekend with my wife. To get the positive out of the way, the outside was very nice with a nice overlook of Galena.|Now for the bad. We stayed in the smaller rooms of the main building. First look over there was grime on the walls and bathroom door. As if they had never been cleaned. The bed felt as if all the middle springs were toast. When you laid down you pulled to the center as if there was a crater in the center of the bed. Next there quite a few bugs that I had to take care of including spiders, mosquitos, and moths.|I did let the front desk know about the grime when we went to grab breakfast from the office (mediocre by the way, I just grabbed coffee) and they did clean the walls, but the bathroom door was still disgusting.|Now the big issue came the next night, note the bugs. I noticed something crawling by the bed and killed it. Upon inspection it was a Roach and that I'm not cool with in the least bit. When there is one, there is more, so we packed carefully after inspecting all of our belongings as to not bring one home, we hauled out of there.|On the way out I gave the office emergency phone number a call as they are gone by 9 pm. I spoke to the least concerned woman when I told her about the roach. She wanted me to believe that it was not a roach and that it was some other bug she could not name. As if it was somehow possible she was in the room and had seen what I had seen. I informed her that I would be requesting a refund and she said she would talk to me about it the following morning. I informed her the body was in some tissue on the side table if she needed to see it herself.|I figured this would be more urgent, but never received a call the next morning. Instead I called them to no answer. I then receive a text that she was not in the office that day and would call me the NEXT day even though she said she would talk to me that morning.|I eventually did get a call after 2 pm way past the window she said she'd call me, so that was missed as I was no longer expecting a call. I called back to a no answer and then immediately received an unprofessional in my opinion text letting me know she couldn't talk. I informed her instead of playing a phone tag game. I will instead go through the third party booking agent, as playing phone tag to this degree is ludicrous and the lack of concern is more so. They did after I told them I'm moving on leave me another message declaring that the bug was a stink bug and nothing to worry about. I will post my pictures, so anybody that has the slightest clue as to what a stink bug looks like (Or a simple google search), would know this isnt the case.|In summary poor customer service skills, dirty rooms, mediocre breakfast, and above...

I can’t say enough great things about our stay at Le Fevre. The owner, Ramona, and the inn keeper, Alfredo, are so welcoming and attentive to their guests. We brought our dog and it seemed like almost more than half the guests that weekend did the same. We love to travel with our dog and this was the best experience we’ve ever had. Dog bowls in the room, a goodie bag upon check in, and poop bags in multiple locations throughout the property. My husband enjoyed doing some fishing in the pond. We had a nice evening around the fire that Alfredo made sure was continuously burning to keep the evening chill away. The sunsets were breathtaking. We used the pool a few times and it was very clean and heated perfectly. There are a few grills available for the guests to use. There is an abundance of different seating areas spread throughout the property, so whether you want to sit with a group and socialize or find a quiet place to sit alone, there is plenty of space for everyone. The continental breakfast (hard boiled eggs, assorted bagels, fruit, yogurt, cereal, instant oatmeal, OJ, milk, coffee and tea) was enjoyable and just enough to get us started for the day. We opted for a couples massage in our room that Ramona arranged and it was absolutely amazing. We highly recommend this to relaxing service to treat yourselves. We have been coming to Galena for many years but this was our first time staying here and we were drawn to it because of their dog friendly accommodations. However, we will probably never go anywhere else again and we already booked our next stay (and couples massage) for a the middle of July. Highly recommend this...

A beautiful little inn with a gorgeous view! We had a wonderful time at this gem of a hotel, that had five star amenities for a romantic weekend in the historic town of Galena. The queen rooms have their own jet hot tub, real wood fireplace, tv, mini fridge, and tour stay comes with complimentary continental breakfast. The only thing I would change is I wish they had an onsite restaurant and room service. The innkeeper, Alfredo is really nice and makes sure to accommodate every request. The entire place is also pet-friendly, so you can bring your dogs/cats with you! This place is perfect in the fall, to observe the changing colors of the Jo Daviess county. Located up a hill overlooking a little valley, and Galena below, this hotel also has a cute pond where you can go pedal boating during summer. They also have an outdoor hot tub and pool. Galena is 10 minutes drive away, and the road to the property is nicely paved. Best place to go if you want a secluded, private getaway with loved ones away from crowds or the city.

I drove 137 miles to this resort. I was looking for a place to be one with nature and celebrate my birthday and this resort did not disappoint! I didn't give it five stars because I believe that there's always room for improvement. Let's start with the rooms. The room that I stayed in had a slight sewer smell when I opened the bathroom kitchen faucet. I'm not a plumber so I can't tell you what that's about. Also while I appreciated the Continental breakfast I was disappointed that the breakfast had " value pack yogurt" and stale cereal. When it comes to a beautiful place like this attention to detail is key. Now let's talk about this lovely view!!! I have included the video so you can see for yourself. I went on a hike, spent time on the paddle boat and took my shoes off so I could walk in the grass and do some grounding. I felt so happy and at peace here and I would definitely return.
