It's close to home, and the sites are well-kept. The upper loop has water and power, while the lower spots are dry. When the water levels are high, you get to be right on the water. There are fire pits and picnic tables at each spot, with water spouts available about every 5 spots. Mature cottonwood trees offer afternoon shade, and each camp spot has a smaller tree or two within it. Depending on the time of year, these trees are overrun with bugs... mosquitoes mainly. It can get brutal. Do not let this detour you from coming. Just prepare accordingly. There is a nice grass area and playground for the kids, along with nice paved roads for bike riding. The facilities are fantastic and well-kept, and...

Where do I start? Rebecca was very good and professional. However she did not tell me that the showers were closed. After dry camping for 3 days,we were willing to pay 35.00 for showers, water and a dump station. I could have been in a 5.00 campground with more space for what I got for my 35.00. The sites are so close that I can hear my neighbor fart in their tent.

I don't recommend this park, unless you really want to be close to your neighbor, have their campfire smoke in your face, listen to their dogs bark, and run up to you in your paid for site, and have screaming kids...

Topaz Lake Park provides access to Topaz Lake for camping, fishing, boating, swimming, and photography. A fishing derby conducted by topaz Lodge tends to run January 1 through early April.

The cottonwood trees around the lake start to turn color in late October, and can add color to the scene through early November. Sunrises and sunsets can be particularly good for reflections in the colder, calmer months.

It would be nice if Douglas County would do a better job of cracking down on illegally loud boats, which seem to be a particular problem on...

The Topaz Lake Recreation Area is along the Noetheast side of the lake and offers some amazing views of the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains. In the winter the lake is magical and if cold enough will be partially frozen over. On a clear day the snowcapped mountains behind the lake make for an amazing setting. During the warmer months there are camping spots available here just a few hundred feet from the waters edge, as well as a boat launch. Worth a visit for a day trip or camping trip.

I visit here every year, but this time I think I'm staying for a week on the coldest day when the weather is the worst. I did Dispersed camping right next to the lake, and I was afraid that the trailer was shaken by the strong wind I saw for the first time in the world, so I moved to the hook up site and camped for 3 days again. I've spent a dream-like time in a place where no one was around. I highly recommend this place.
