We had an overall AMAZING time at the Ozark Highlands Getaway - Tiny Cabins outside Osceola, MO!
The cabin came stocked with everything you could possibly need for a weekend (or maybe slightly longer) getaway.
Arrival: The area is remote, quiet and well-kept. It DOES take some driving on a not-so-well-marked gravel road to arrive at the entrance to the cabin complex. We took this both as a plus and a minus as it was hard to find the first time, but our navigation took us to the right place and once we knew where it was, we found it easily upon leaving and returning. The plus side being, no random vehicles wandering in and out of the area, only those who were staying and the staff.
Cabin: Clean, quiet, comfortable, well air conditioned (we visited on a couple of near 100 degree days in July), pet-friendly (dog ties and bowls provided), and has all the amenities we needed for our two-day stay. These cabins are the perfect size for TWO people, possibly two plus two if you're used to living intimately with two others. Children would be ideal, another couple not so much. The bunk queen beds are comfy and spacious and in front of a massive picture window which has a blackout blind that easily opens and closes.
The kitchen was plenty for the two of us with the two-burner range and mini-fridge doing a good job of cooking our food and keeping our drinks and perishables cold. If you have a lot of cold-storage things when you come, bring a cooler to store the bulk of it, the fridge is very small but worked for us.
The bathroom was very functional and spacious enough for the two of us. We were warned about the hot shower water not lasting long enough for a full shower (we were told 5 minutes), but we each took a shower once while we were there and neither ran out of hot water in 10+ minutes each. The included shampoo, conditioner and body wash were definitely a plus for us.
The main table in the living area was plenty for us to sit and eat at, and had we needed or wanted to use any of our board games we could have easily set them up and played. We spent most of our time outside at the fire pit and Adirondack chairs and picnic table.
The fire pit was nice to have, and even though it was too hot to use it... we did anyway!
In addition to all the included amenities, they offer supplies such as coffee and firewood for an additional fee charged after the fact much like a standard hotel offers drinks or snacks. The prices were fair, and we found ourselves using the firewood and the s'mores kit along with the coffee.
Overall - 5/5. The negatives were so miniscule here that they're barely worth mentioning and essentially come down to preference. We hope the owners keep up the maintenance on this property to keep it as nice, quiet, and secluded as it is now. We'll...
Read moreAwesome spot! I took a solo trip for 2 nights and highly recommend to anyone traveling on their own or with a couple people. The cabin was perfect and had everything you could think of: Comfortable bed, AC, clean bathroom, stove, all of the kitchen utensils you need, lawn chairs, fire pit and even smaller things that were nice bonuses like an electric lantern and a deck of cards. The one-bed was a great size for one person. The two-bed cabins may be bigger, but would recommend getting multiple reservations if you're going with more than two people.
Like the name suggests, it's definitely a getaway in the sense that, there's not really much to do nearby unless you're willing to drive 30-45 minutes to the nearest lake/park. There is a short hiking trail within the grounds which takes 20-30 minutes to walk through. There is also a small town with a supermarket about 15 minutes away, which has all the food and necessities that you need if you forgot something.
Also, there were 30-40 cabins at this location, so just be aware that there may be a bunch of other people around, depending on when you go. I went from Sunday-Tuesday, and there were maybe 10-15 other occupied cabins. The closest other one to mine was about 100-150 feet away, so you definitely get enough space for yourself, but just like most other campsites, you're close enough to hear other people. There are quiet hours, but you roll the dice on whether or not other people will honor it. My "neighbors" had plenty to drink and were not afraid to talk loud (Of course, this is outside the company's control, so I'm not letting it affect my review).
Overall, highly recommend and will probably return...
Read moreThis was our first time at a Getaway but it will not be our last! It was amazing. The service was exceptional with detailed text messages helping us get to our cabin. The cabin was gorgeous and quaint. I loved the huge window to just look out at the trees. I loved how our campsite was not close to others so it made us feel like we were all alone in the woods! We o my stayed for one night but I can’t wait to go back it to try another location! Attached is a picture of the view from our fire pit, nothing but woods and woods!
The only part that wasn’t my favorite was the long skinny drive. There is no room to turn around so you have to drive backwards for quite a way to get out of your camp spot. Also, we had a spot that was in the Ns (campsites have names and are arranged in alpha order) so we would have to drive for 7 minutes from the entrance just to get to our campsite. Next time I would try to ask for one closer to the beginning of the alphabet. We had to go in and out a few times because we were staying the night to visit my daughter at Bartle Scout Camp and it would take us over 20 minutes to get from our site to the camp (even though the map said it was only 12 minutes away).
Unfortunately, they had a terrible storm just a week or so before we arrived so the whole nature walk park was roped off because of all the fallen trees but I would love to go again when we can actually walk through there.
Overall, I highly recommend this place, especially if you aren’t planning to go in and...
