My uncle got a cabin here and asked me to come down on my day off since he paid for a lot of people and got a lot of wristbands since some people couldn’t show, I came down Sunday morning and when I got here my cousins wanted to jump on the pillow when I tried to jump it was way too inflated that they were saying it actually hurt to jump on which I agree, when we went to play basketball the balls had no bounce and no lines on them they felt like dodgeballs. Then we went in to the food place which we wanted the bar menu and the nice girl told us it was and I quote “oh that’s a separate time, at 5” nothing more so my boyfriend who came down said he would gets wings later we order food and my pretzel bites come out not even cooked, hard as a rock. Then the fries come out dry and no ketchup around or offered. We did agree though that the burger was good. Then we try to fish but there’s so much alge we can not it just kept getting stuck and messing up the line. (Wasted a ton of fishing line bc of it) then we went into the shop and they said they closed at 5 so we leave then try to go into the bar since it was almost 5 but it was locked. We were upset because this was the only day we were coming and we were told it would be open at 5 form the girl earlier. Other campers were also trying to get in upset and man since they wanted food and now they couldn’t get food from the shop or from the Bar. The beds are hard and the roof constantly makes noises like people are walking on the roof throughout the whole day and I assume the night as well but I haven’t even got to sleep yet since there was already so many issues. I would recommend anywhere but here. There’s cheaper and smaller campsites that do much...
Read moreI’ve traveled all across the United States, coast to coast, and stayed at dozens of KOAs and campgrounds along the way, and I can say without hesitation that Mount Gilead KOA is the best of them all.
From the moment you pull in, you can feel the difference. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the layout is thoughtfully designed, and the amenities are top tier. Whether you’re in a big rig, a cozy camper, or a tent, every site feels welcoming, peaceful, and well equipped.
What really sets Mount Gilead KOA apart is the hospitality. The staff go above and beyond, they’re friendly, helpful, and genuinely care about your experience. It’s the kind of place where you’re greeted with a smile and where every detail is done with heart.
The campground itself offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and fun. The wooded surroundings give it a serene, tucked away feel while the activities for kids and adults alike make it lively and engaging. Clean bathrooms, modern hookups, peaceful walking trails, fire pits, and even little surprises like community events or treats, it’s everything you want in a campground and more.
After staying here, every other campground has a lot to live up to. Mount Gilead KOA has set a new standard for me, not just for KOAs but for any campground in the country.
If you’re traveling through Ohio or looking for a special spot to spend a weekend or a week, don’t miss this gem. I’ll be back, no question.
If I had one suggestion, it would be to expand the restaurant menu to offer a bit more variety in...
Read moreWe stayed for opening weekend and were completely disappointed. They have the classification as a KOA holiday and have a very long way to go.
The pool was not open yet. I must note that we were given about a week notice via email the pool was not going to be ready, however we were told there would be an “adult friendly” commercial water/bounce inflatable, yet upon arrival we were told the limit was 100 lbs.
The sites were very rocky. We had more than 100 golf ball sized rocks on on our lot we gathered up. To be able to comfortably walk or set out chairs.
All of the sites in our area had no shade. None.
Their credit system wasn’t working. I’m used to being able to check-in with a card on file and order ice or wood to be delivered to our site, but instead we needed to have our card to swipe each time. Which meant several trips to the office.
When we checked in we weren’t given the WiFi password or code to the shower houses. While not a huge deal, the office closed at 9 so we had to wait for the following morning.
They advertised wine tasting, which seemed like a fun amenity. Not only was this not offered, but when asked about it. The manager was baffled and denied that it was offered.
We enjoyed ourselves because we were with good friends and brought pop ups and fans, however we paid full price for a “KOA Holiday” campground with very few usable amenities and an...
