This was a great place to stay when visiting Mammoth Cave! The lead up to the stay was efficient and helpful, with a lot of communication regarding the amenities and access.
The cabin was clean and high quality as far as towels, sheets, shampoo/conditioner, toilet paper (an odd point, I know, but it was better quality than some nice hotels at which I've stayed). The rain shower in the master bath was neat.
I couldn't figure out how to cast my iPad to the tv, but that's user error on my part. We still had strong wi-fi, and we enjoyed the first weekend of college football on my smaller screen in the evenings.
The location was great. We walked around the retreat and saw turkey and turtles. There was a fire pit for our cabin with available firewood and chairs, but it was really hot, so we'll take advantage of that next time. We were close to everything we needed. We visited Miss Betty's Diner for a Southern breakfast in Park City, then went to Ace Coffee Co in Cave City the next morning before we left. Both an easy drive and good food. Mammoth Cave is fantastic, and a quick shot from the property.
This was a perfect getaway, especially having a lazy Sunday reading and taking a nap listening to the rain on the roof.
We will definitely stay here again when we come back to hike more trails in Mammoth...
Read moreAmazing and so easy. I was traveling to The Badlands, SD and on my way back east to get home for Thanksgiving I found The Maple Retreat online. I basically found cool places my whole way and this was definitely cool. I will admit I was exhausted after 22 days. I usually call, I prefer the human interaction and it gives me a preview of the places. This was excellent. The guy i spoke with not only called me right back after our call was lost but just made the reservation a breeze. At a gas stop I checked their texts and the link to give my info was also quick and easy. They even ask what temp you would like the cabin. I never had to even see a person. Not that that is an issue but I was getting in quite late. Everything was perfect. The cabin was CLEAN. I actually travel with a can of Lysol. Saw one of those documentaries and I also carry my own blanket. Hahahaha. No need here. And I must say the shower was absolutely wonderful. Mammoth Caves was a "spit" from the retreat and I picked up some excellent BBQ from Bucky Bee's on my way home. I mean I was in Kentucky. I give The Maple Retreat 5 unused Lysol cans! its worth...
Read moreWe stayed in a Junior cabin just last week for our visit to Mammonth cave. Only about 10 minutes from visitor center so this is an ideal location for the cave. This whole retreat is new so the cabins are very nice. It was just the two of us and the cabin provided far more room than we needed but this is far better than staying in hotel. Everything worked well. The bathroom is very modern with the walk in shower. We did find that the gap between glass doors does allow water to spill out onto the floor so just be aware so no one slips and falls. Kitchen seemed stocked pretty well as we cooked in the first night we were there. Only found two coffee cups though so it would be nice if there were a couple more. Make sure you enjoy the firepit and back deck. We did smores two nights and heard a screech owl 🦉. The registration is lengthy in my opinion and you get multiple texts and emails. One for installing an app which I never did. As such I missed the part about locking the door so I had to call and get instructions on that. Basically hold door closed and hold lock button for a few seconds.
