Unfortunately, I can't leave a review! Last Friday, July 9, my fur baby had to have an unexpected emergency surgery to remove his eye. My family panicked, not knowing how things would turn out. So we decided to cancel our reservation, which was 3 weeks before our arrival. As policy states "Reverations canceled more than 3 weeks before arrival do not incur charges." As we were in the unknown with our dog we decided it would best to cancel so we wouldn't incur charges. After a very stressful weekend with our beloved dog we noticed charges did incur. We called the office to ask about charges. We were told that it was the deposit. Policy: "The non-refundable deposit of 1/2 the total per night will automatically run 3 weeks prior to check-in." I agree this is fair but we called the morning of, not after "check-in" hours. After all of this back-in-fourth and thankfully our dog was doing ok, we decided if they are going to charge us anyway let's just go. But NO we were told "It is too late to uncancel. You can take it up with the credit card company. " I understand that we canceled the morning of the 3 week notice. But we could have been offered to stay as planned or if it had already been rented offered another weekend. Stating "I can't do any more for you" is bad customer service! I have stayed many places and never have I had someone so unwill to help! Very sad because my family was very excited to visit...
Read moreMy partner and I happened upon this lovely womyn (that is the correct spelling) owned motel/resort. It's in the perfect location. Located less than a mile away from the Dune Climb at Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore. There is a lot of history attached to this place. It's a excellent place to stay if you are a LGBTQ person. It's a place that encourages you to be yourself and allows you to come out of the shadows. It's a place to celebrate diversity and the triumphs of womyn throughout history. This is not a place for the close minded (there's always a Best Western or Motel 6 for you), this is a place to listen, talk, and love each other for our differences.
One of my favorite aspects of my stay was the community room. It has a fully furnished kitchen, gas fireplace, TV, books, games, and a stereo where you can plug in some tunes and listen to your favorite music while making yourself some breakfast. But beware, you may be sharing the space with multiple strangers so be respectful. They also have a wash room, trails for hiking (which butt up against the sand dunes), and a fire pit to share stories around.
I will definitely be going back as long as they are there, but this time I will stay here for the entire visit. Thank you for such a...
Read moreThe perfect place to unwind with family. The rooms were comfortable, there’s a huge outside green space for our kids to run around. Lots of picnic tables for eating outside. A lovely community room for hanging out, eating inside, watching the soccer game, and cooking (also outdoor charcoal grills available - bring your own charcoal). Full equipment available and some basic cooking supplies like salt / pepper / olive oil. ||||Several other families were there and it was natural for them to meet and hangout. The owners helped introduce us by offering our kids containers and showing them where to pick fresh off the plant raspberries (so tasty)! Got some adult hang time too after meeting some folks playing Euchre in the community room. ||||The location is perfect for exploring Sleeping Bear Dunes. We went out at new moon to see the stars and Milky Way. Did lots of day time exploring too (visitors center is in Empire - don’t forget to pick up the free Junior Ranger...
