Edit 2: I am changing my two star review to one because I discovered that there is no bolt lock and the chain lock on our door has been removed.
I feel I came to a place like this with appropriate expectations. It's a 2- star hotel in the middle of nowhere. It started out well, which is why I gave it 2 stars, instead of 1.
The guy who checked us in was polite and helpful. I asked if our room had the kitchenette we were expecting, and he said no but he agreed to switch our room assignment. I appreciated that. He couldn't find the room key, was confused about that, went to look for it for about 5 minutes and brought it back to me.
We drove to the room. I took the key and opened the door about 6 inches only to find the TV on, beds unmade, and bags all over the beds. I didn't open further to see if there were people in there.
That was unexpected, to understate how I felt.
I went back, explained that the room was occupied, and let him know I was freaked out. He was still polite, but what do I say? He found yet another room, but this time without a kitchenette. I asked for a discount, but he said he could only do what the computer let him do. No discount. Whatever.
He went to check out the room he assigned us, but came back saying it had only one bed. We need two. He found room number three, which had 2 beds.
I went out my room and saw a sign for pop machines and the ice machine. There is no ice machine in the promised location of main hallway, and there is no pop machine... there is, however, a snack machine, broken with literally about 3 bags of chips. You have to take your ice bucket to the check in counter and give it to the guy and he'll fill it up for you.
We weren't warned that the water is light brown. I'm hoping it's from iron, but we're not drinking any tonight. Good thing we have water bottles.
As I stated, the guy who checked us in was polite and helpful, to the best of his ability. However, nothing else was satisfying by any stretch of the imagination.
Lower your expectations, and do that a couple more times. This place is profoundly disappointing.
Edit: I just read that this is a 3- star hotel, according to Google...
Read moreThe exterior and parking lot is modest in a way that fits in with the general vibe of the area, while I was pleasantly surprised by the contrast of the relatively nice furniture and clean interior of our room. We were promptly greeted by the front desk attendant who gave us a brief rundown of what was available nearby. Nothing fancy to access your room, just a plain brass key. The door locks with a little twist button lock on the knob and a chain, although the area seems fairly safe. Inside, the room undoubtedly smelled like the last guest was smoking pot, although turning on the AC cleared that away. The AC its self seemed fairly dated and was very noisy even at the lowest setting so if you're a light sleeper, you'll need to crack the window or bring earplugs. The television was nice but reception was not good, on the other hand internet was very fast and even offered by 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi. The water is soft and may feel "slimy", although there is plenty of hot water for a good shower. The ice machine had plenty of clean ice available, but there was no liner provided for the ice buckets. Finally, the chairs and beds were comfortable even if the pillows were a little on the lumpy side for my taste.
Overall, the Riverside Inn provided a cheap stay for my family who just needed to rest in town for the night, and was...
Read moreGiving this motel a 1 star is being generous this place is a negative-5 star establishment. At check-in the employee was hard to understand so I had to ask her to repeat her question so she rudely made a comment about my hearing. As she gave me the receipt with the WIFI password she made a nasty comment “here’s the wifi password if you know how to use it.” I get to the room and the key the employee gave me did not work to the door so she came down insinuating that I was dumb and didn’t know how to unlock a door and then she couldn’t get the key to work so she went and got a different key that worked. This is after she accused me of breaking the door. The room was clean but the TV didn’t work and I 100% was not going to ask the front desk lady to fix the TV. The toilet wasn’t bolted down right cause when you got off the toilet it’d bounce off the wall. This place does not have air conditioning and the swamp coolers they use weren’t blowing cold air. The water in the toilet, shower, and sink was brown. I would not stay at this place ever again worst customer...
