We had a pleasant stay at the Dam 51 houses in Golconda. This was not our first stay in house #3 over the years, but we have noticed the condition of the home degrade over the last 10 years. For the most part a comfortable stay, but investing $15 towards a new toaster (only toasts 1 side of the bread at a time), attempting to clean the spider webs on the front porch facing the river, spraying for brown recluse spiders (we found many), repairing the screen in the front porch as there were numerous holes and signs of a break-in, and cleaning the bird droppings off the mirror in the living room and vase in the dining room would be simple fixes that would greatly improve the appearance. For some reason the jacuzzi has been removed from house #3. I’m guessing they didn’t want to repair it and just simply removed it? All simple fixes, but still a pleasant stay and lovely view...

Furnished with many antiques (which was fine with me since I love them). Nice sitting on the porch in the evening watching the river roll by. Pretty convenient to the locations we were visiting.||A little stand or something would have been nice-in the bathroom. A little lax on plates and utensils and pots/pans. Just two of us, we got by easily but not sure it would accommodate too many more people.||Needed to get some non-stick spray, but Dollar General is really near-by||Would certainly stay there again. The homes are one two and three-bedroom they're very inexpensive to rent. The town of Golconda Illinois is a very sleepy small little town There's a couple of restaurants a very eclectic hotel with a lounge as well as a few antique sort of stores.
