My family and I absolutely LOVE Dunes Harbor Family Camp! It offers just enough to do, without going overboard with options. The Staff is present and available, and amazingly helpful and friendly! They've always made us feel right at home. The grounds are well cared for, and the bathrooms are cleaned and maintained regularly. The Camp Hosts are a delightful couple, and The Manager is attentive to the needs of the camp overall, making sure what needs to be done, gets done, and in a very efficient manner. It's truly a family friendly camp, no rowdy, loud, obnoxious guests (at least not when we've been there) and I feel confident it wouldn't go unnoticed or be allowed to continue for long if a situation did arise. I really feel Dunes Harbor offers the perfect blend of nature and convenience - go on the nature walk in the morning, and muster up the energy to join in on a run! Then cool off at the pool for a swim, or at trivia time; and later gather back after an enjoyable day, to catch a flick at the pavilion, ice cream at the ice cream shop (they took the time to seek out Country Dairy to serve :)), or get your fire a blazing and nestle in around it, under the stars above. Near the campgrounds you'll find the Silver Lake Dunes, Silver Lake State Park, and Little Sable Point Lighthouse, all within a short distance away. We've soaked up a sunset at each location, and so far the State Park takes the win, though Little Sable Point comes in close! While the dunes themselves may not be the greatest for a shoreline sunset, they are amazing just the way they are, and a really great workout too! This is the one place we have chosen to build family memories. I could go on and on, but really, you just need to experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI found Dunes Harbor Family Camp after hours of searching the night before for an electric campsite in the U.P. for a spontaneous camping trip with my family. I'm grateful I couldn't find anything, because that led my Google search south to Dunes Harbor. It has been a rough year for my family. This summer passed us by without getting a camping trip in. We decided Thursday afternoon to go camping to enjoy the beautiful weekend. Dunes Harbor was above our expectations. It was not only fun, but good for our souls. My 8 yr old son LOVED the pool. My husband and I loved the lounge chairs with the option of the shaded cabana. We also LOVED the worship music playing for us. The atmosphere was just so so good. There wasn't the typical stuff you deal with at most pools. All the children were polite, no screaming, no shoving for the pool, no arguing over the balls. I love the fact that there was no alcohol on the premises and the rowdyness that goes with it. We run a faith based sober living home in Northern Michigan. So we greatly appreciated the overall atmosphere of Dunes Harbor Family Camp and it was a refreshing, reset that we needed. We will be back next year to experience again, but hopefully for a longer time.
P.S. The bathrooms, showers and actually the entire campground was the cleanest I've ever seen in any public place. I also clean for a living and the bathrooms were always spotless. I wondered if I was the only person in the campground to even be using the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow!! I cannot say enough about Dunes Harbor. We stayed for 3 nights last summer and 4 nights this summer (June 2021). I started camping as a child, in 1978. The camp grounds and facilities are the cleanest and most well kept Iāve ever seen. The atmosphere is completely family friendly. I would expect that all families and children of all abilities would feel comfortable and respected here. The culture of the campground and staff is outstanding. I am a school teacher, so we typically camp during the week as opposed to weekends. Our family was delighted to find that they hold activities during the week and during the weekend. The pool is amazing, mini lazy river, splash pad and a super fun slide! By far our favorite was horseback riding. The wranglers were outstanding. One wrangler, Sarah C. took some extra time with our 6 year old to teach her a bunch of extra stuff and spend some extra time with the horse. It was amazing and I canāt express how awesome Sarah was with my daughter. As we walked away, my daughter looked up at me and excitedly whispered āthis is the best day of my life!ā It was the icing on the cake. (Thank you so much, Sarah C) Dunes Harbor was the highlight of our summer last year and this year (so far) and Iām sure it will be for many years to come! Thank you,...
