A nice, if rustic, RV park with full hookups, electric and water sites and tent sites. The roads are gravel and pretty narrow in a couple of spots but we were able to pull our 31' travel trailer through easily. The RV spots were gravel and pretty level with a large concrete pad with a large concrete picnic table, plenty of room for extra chairs on the pad.
Lake Wood mostly disappeared after the 2016 dam break but there is still a small lake above the dam although there is no direct access for kayaking/canoeing. You can walk to it for fishing.
Below the dam the Guadalupe River was good for swimming, fishing, kayaking/canoeing and wading. Several groups set up pop-ups in the water or on the shore and the water is mostly shallow with a mostly sandy shore so it was kid-friendly. My 13 y/o son and I kayaked 1 mile downstream and only had to pull the kayak over one short shallow spot. The flow downstream is good and didn't really have to paddle. Coming back upstream 95% if the way was an easy paddle due to the width of the river. About 100 to 150-ish feet the channel is narrow, shallow and fast and my son was barely able to help paddle through it and I had to work at almost...

Read moreWe stayed for 7 days at Lake wood Park in July. The park is a hidden gem. We love the shady pecan trees and the well kept mowed grass and the children's playground for our grandchildren. The campsites have picnic tables, fire pits, grills, limestone pads, water, electric and sewer.
The lake was dry due to the dam breakage in April. We were informed that the dam would be repaired by August of next year at a cost of 3 million. The park host was nice and visited with us. The park is very clean without litter on the ground. The only problem we encountered was that we didn't get out early enough to beat the fisherman so we could swim. LOL The staff was very nice and helpful. We definitely plan to return at some...
