I wish I could give this place 10 stars!!!! We just returned from our stay here this weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and the accommodations are INCREDIBLE!!!!! This is exactly where you want to go if you're looking to unplug and disconnect from the chaos and insanity of the outside world! There are no TVs in the rooms and cabins, but that's part of what makes this place so great! We stayed in the "Anchor Room," which is apparently their most requested room, and we could easily see why! The view from this room is AMAZING!!!! You have a direct view of the ocean and a beautiful deck to sit on while you enjoy your coffee and breakfast and take in the gorgeous view. The sunrises and sunsets here are probably the most stunning we've ever seen! We loved sitting by the fire pit on Sunday evening. Additionally, the breakfast at Bluff House is top-notch! EVERYTHING is made from scratch! We couldn't get enough of the homemade vanilla yogurt, farm fresh eggs, and pastries! They even make their own orange juice! Everything was fantastic!!!! This place really feels like home away from home! We loved being able to go downstairs to the main "lodge" to get snacks and juice whenever we wanted, even in the middle of the night! The staff was THE BEST and Don was only a text message away if we needed anything! He truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed! He even sent us a list of nearby restaurants/bars! Another positive point about Bluff House is that it is less than an hour drive from Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park, or you can catch the ferry, so everything is very easily accessible. Oh, and if you have pups, Bluff House is very dog friendly! We might be bringing our gaggle of Golden Retrievers next time! We both feel so relaxed and rejuvenated after our weekend at the Bluff House that we've already booked another stay for next weekend! This time, we will be staying in the "Spruce Cabin" and we can't wait!!! I cannot recommend Bluff House Inn & Cabins enough!!!! I think we are officially hooked on this place!

Our stay at Bluff House Inn was cozy and relaxing. Self check-in was simple with clear instructions sent by message, and the cabin itself was very cute and welcoming. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the whole place had a quiet charm that made it easy to unwind. The view was more of the woods than the ocean, but still beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast was basic with prepackaged items and hard-boiled eggs, but the coffee station was wonderful, we found ourselves going back several times just for that. On the downside, for the amount we paid there really were no amenities. The cabin had no closet or shelving, only a small bench with limited storage, which made a week-long stay with two people inconvenient since we had to keep everything in our luggage. The Wi-Fi router in the room had a bright blue light right above the bed that made it harder to sleep. There are also no staff members on site, so if you need anything you have to call a third-party number for assistance. While it worked, it gave less of a sense of security knowing no one was physically there. Our room did not have a microwave, and although one was available at the main inn, the first night there were no utensils or cups for the ramen they sell, which was frustrating. Thankfully it was restocked the next night. Overall, it was a quiet and comfortable stay with a lot of charm, but considering the price, the lack of amenities and small inconveniences made it feel like it could have been much better.

We stayed in the cabins as we were traveling with our two dogs. Pros: easy, contactless entry, clean room, comfortable bed, pet friendly (with no rugs, any spills or accidents would be easy to clean up), super responsive to all emails, great tips via text on places to see and eat, beautiful sunset from the porch, great location for Schoodic access and good food in Winter Harbor. Cons: the interior furnishings were chintzy. A Tiny table and 2 small wobbly chairs made spending time in the room not very comfortable. The cabins are basically plopped down in a dirt parking lot with scrub brush for landscaping, but you’re probably not picking an inn at Schoodic for the fancy grounds given the scenery that abounds outside the Inn. Our first night, there was an ongoing thumping that sounded like someone was on the roof but we concluded it must have been the neighbors shutting their car doors over and over? Not sure but it went on intermittently over a couple of hours and was very annoying. It would help if guests were asked not to park right next to the cabins to avoid the thuds through the walls. Otherwise, it was quiet. WiFi is weak and not really up to streaming anything, especially not two people surfing at once. Overall, if you’re looking for pet friendly accommodations near Winter Harbor, this is a decent choice!

We've been staying at Bluff House Inn during our summer and early fall travels to Maine for the last several years and have stayed here many times. We were very saddened to recently learn that the inn has now been sold and is under new ownership. The McQuade family, who owned and operated Bluff House Inn for a number of years, did a phenomenal job giving the inn a very warm, welcoming feeling. Dogs were always welcome anywhere on the property (even in the main inn) and they always had an incredible continental breakfast, consisting of fresh, delicious homemade pastries made from scratch daily, farm fresh eggs from their own chickens, fresh fruit, and even homemade yogurt that was to die for. Don and his wife were always extremely welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed. They would even leave a bag of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in our room or cabin every time we stayed as well as a few local craft beers. Going to Bluff House really felt like going to a family member's house. It just had that cozy, welcoming vibe. It was a place to go to unplug, connect with nature, and relax.||We stayed at Bluff House last month for the first time under its new ownership and I am very sad to report that it is NOT the same. It appears that the property is now owned by an out of state investment firm and not by a local family as it previously was, so it no longer has that personal, warm feel to it. Dogs are now only allowed in the cabins and are no longer welcome in the main inn, and the "continental breakfast" is a complete joke. Instead of the fresh, homemade breakfasts that we became so accustomed to while staying here, all that they offer is store bought garbage, such as prepackaged mini muffins and granola bars. There was absolutely NOTHING even remotely healthy offered and the pickings were extremely slim. I don't even think you can call that a breakfast! It was more like they went to a vending machine and threw the items on a table! It was so bad that we ended up going out for a real breakfast elsewhere. There were two young girls working in the main inn during breakfast and neither of them said a single word to any of the guests who came in. They did not offer any greetings or even so much as smile. One of them stood right next to me as I was making our coffees and didn't say a single word. She didn't even acknowledge my presence, nor anyone else's presence. Don and his wife were always so friendly, welcoming, and interactive with guests during breakfast and even offered up many local recommendations. They made sure that all of their guests were well taken care of and felt right at home.||I guess it's the end of an era, which is so sad. The property is, of course, still beautiful, but the way it is now being run leaves a lot to be desired. I feel like what was once such a family-oriented respite on the coast of Maine has now been ruined. I'm not too sure if we will be back, which is sad as we have many years of wonderful memories at Bluff House Inn, but it simply isn't what it once was now that the McQuade family has left it in the hands of this investment firm. Their presence will be...

The view at The Bluff House Inn is absolutely incredible! However, we were extremely disappointed by our stay. When booking online, the booking description said there were 2 rooms, it slept 5 adults and had a private bathroom. The bathroom was not pictured on the site and it was extremely small. There’s hardly any space to move around especially if you are taller/larger.

When we arrived, there was 1 open room with 2 beds in it. The futon for a fifth adult, was leather, and when you laid it out, there were 2 rods bulging up in the middle. So for someone to lay on it, they would rise up in the middle and sink lower on the outer edges. This futon also tipped to one side if you rolled over the wrong way. This would leave someone with back problems if they attempted to sleep there.

We called the property to inquire about switching rooms or asking for a cot because we were surprised at the arrangement, we had 2 adult siblings who had not planned on sharing a bed and now were unable to utilize the futon.

Upon calling the workers (they are not there during your stay), I was met with a disrespectful and condescending response. I started off very politely complimenting the beauty of the property and just simply explained our situation.

The worker on the phone said to me “Well did you look at the pictures? No one else has had an issue here”. That’s great for whoever else stayed here but they’re not me and for all I know, they had children in their party. The worker also told me “We cannot control the height of our guests” when I explained that my 6’4 brother was going to have difficulty sleeping on a tiny, convoluted futon. Of course I understand they can’t control the height of their guests, was that a necessary comment? No.

We called seeking a solution and were met with an attitude. The place itself is pretty but that’s all I can say. We ended up leaving earlier than planned. I would not spend my money here again: Bluff House Inn did not meet our expectations, but that doesn’t mean it...
