I stumbled on Cascade Peaks while i was looking for a camping spot during the state lock down. Some were open, some weren't. I called to make a reservation and was told if I had never been there before they don't take reservations, at first I thought this odd, she kind of explained, and I was just rolled with it. I was assured they had plenty of spots (this was in May pre labor day). I do need to note that she was just informative, not unkind or anything like that.||We rolled up, and they were very...casual... I did not know that all of the sites had power and water, so I asked for a full hook up. Again, very kind, but was like are you sure, and pointed to the full hook up section. It is just 3 or 4 lines of diesel pushers right off the highway, she then informed me that ALL sites had power and water and they had a dump station. Perfect! So, she gave me some tips on the map, which areas tended to be most popular and said pick any spot that works for you, as long as it is not a red power box. cool, off we go.||Now, if i had some monster 5th wheel, or other large trailer, I can see this as a challenge. My trailers is 17 ft nose to butt, so i can pretty much go anywhere. ||Any way, because the place is massive, and the speed limit is only 5 mph, finding a site can take a minute and if you have been travelling, i can see this making some people a little growly. Also, there are some issues with signage, and they definitely need to update their map. They have some one ways, but they are not marked clearly, and there are signs in some places and not others, it is a little disoncerting your first time. While there were quite a few people at the park, it was not busy, and we rolled in on a Sunday so we pretty much had our pick of the park except down "by the river", which was fine. We ended up in the meadow, in the shade, no neighbors it was heaven and i was hooked. ||My next trip was not planned. I had reservations at a state park on a different pass and well there was a snafu, so now i have to find a spot. I drove from Chinook pass to White Pass and tried Cascade Peaks because everything else was full to the rafters. I rolled in about 6pm on a Friday in July, and yep, got a spot! They remembered me which was amazing. Paid and went straight to the meadow. They were about full, but found a great spot, and had a lovely weekend.||I have several future trips reserved, and yes, i have picked my spots, because i have been there and understand.||Now some facts:||They have 2 pools, they are small, and while I have not personally used them, I have driven by and they appear to be pretty packed most of the time. The river is reasonably close from most camp spots and there are some lovely swimming holes and shady relaxing spots. ||All sites have power and water, the power and water are at the front of the site, so extra long cords may be in order, especially on the hose. My most recent trip the water leaked horribly at the fawcett, so I filled my fresh tank, and just left if off. It was just me, so i didn't even use that much, but turned it on/off as i needed, didn't want to be wasteful. ||This place is great for families and groups especially in "the meadow" If you book 2 or 3 spots, you can organize your rigs any way you want. There are play grounds, random tire/rope swings and a zip line. There is a store and is decently stocked, and the fire wood is very reasonable. ||||I strongly recommend this...

My husband and I spent Labor Day weekend at this out of date, dirty, disgusting campground. I wished I had read some of these reviews before I booked it. The campsite was just dirt--no gravel pad--just dirt and ashes from a previous camper's campfire. All of the campground loops are gravel, so it was extremely dusty with all of the nonstop traffic circling around in the campground. We saw lots of trucks with small children riding in the truck bed as well as golf carts, bicycles, and cars. Our truck and trailer was soon covered in dust.|||| The bathroom and showers were the most disgusting of any I have ever seen! In the ladies bath and shower by the entrance, the first stall has no latch on the door, the second stall's toilet was plugged up, and the third stall has no toilet paper. Then, to top it off, there were no paper towels to dry your hands on. The floors were dirty and the baseboards were rotting. It looked like this bathroom has never seen any maintenance in years. ||||The campground was just full of barking dogs and children running around unsupervised and playing and screaming at all hours. There was an old, abandoned 5th wheel camper in the site next to us, It was unlocked and we heard kids going in and out of it. My husband took a peak inside and said it was trashed. We stayed here to hike at Rainier because this campground was located close by. Because of the flea market going on in Packwood, camping here was like camping at Grand Central Station with all of the noise, blaring music, and screeching kids. The Cascades loop was supposed to be one way only, but we saw as many driving the wrong way as the ones who drove the correct direction. In fact, when we arrived, a woman driving the wrong way drove into our site to move out of our way not knowing that was our site.||||The electrical and water hookups were at the front of the site rather than in the rear to be more convenient for hooking up electric and water. We were unable to park our trailer as far back into the site as we would have liked. Luckily, we had an extension cord for the electric, but had to pull the trailer forward to reach the water hookup. The misplaced hookups were also in the way when we were trying to exit the site.||||Everything about this campground was rundown, dirty, and disgusting. It has been neglected for years, has outdated facilities, and horrible dirty restrooms and showers, We will never stay here again nor would we ever recommend this campground to...

What a beautiful setting. You are in a perfect location for exploring Mt Rainier and Mt. St. Helens! Unfortunately, I can only give this place 2 and a half stars. It is REALLY run down and dirty. Our campsite was riverside and really lovely. Very quiet. BUT...when we arrived someone was IN our site and we had to stay in the full-hook-up area (next to Highway 12) for the first night. After we moved to the riverside site (water and electric, no sewer) we were a lot happier. We were totally alone out on "the spur". No security but very good wifi. Locked doors and pepper spray made me feel a little more secure but I would NEVER tent camp here. Some of the employees were great and really helpful but others were just plain scary, rude, and probably still should be incarcerated. The bathrooms were old, but clean in the campground but don't use the one next to the laundry. REALLY DIRTY and the faucet was broken so really hot or really cold were the options. Speaking of the laundry...washing machines are on their way out. One stopped mid cycle for me. Just died. Out of 6 dryers only 2 were working. Apparently this is the only laundry facility nearby because people not staying in the park were waiting to use it. Way too many permanent residents with junky trailers and cars on cinder blocks. If you can stand to only have water and electric, stay in the meadow or on the spur. The owner is missing an incredible opportunity to make this a real destination camping experience. Invest in real GARBAGE CANS WITH LIDS and upgrade the bathrooms. Require that "owned sites" be maintained. Many were so overgrown that it was hard to tell that they were campsites at all! Get rid of the abandoned property, rusty tanks, old refrigerators, and delapitated sheds that haunt the abandoned owned sites! Get some security guards and custodians that will enforce quiet time and fires set not in fire pits. Put some gravel on the road and replace the picnic tables that fall apart when you sit on them! Hire Camp Hosts to police what needs to be. That being said, emploees Roxy and Tony went above and beyond to be helpful. Many of the staff probably would have helped more if it had been in their...
