Arcadia Lodge — Hotel in Grand Rapids

We came as a family of 22 relatives and all stayed in Bayview Cabin. A week is a long time tobe in such close quarters! LOL.||The highlights: |Our teen sons loved the beach. One had lots of fun on all the water toys as did dad. The other sun liked hanging out on the beach skipping stones and playing in the sand. The beach did get very crowded with some families putting up their own tents to keep others out of "their" staked out area. ||The kitchen in the cabin is huge with plenty of counterspace, 3 refrigerators, two microwaves, two toasters and plenty of table space for everyone to sit for eating or playing games.||The cabin seemed to have good soundproofing so those trying to sleep didn't hear activity in other parts of the cabin. ||Adults enjoyed the coordinated activities - BINGO, Trivia, and tye-dye shirts, but most activities are targeted at children 12 and under. The pedal boats, paddle boards and kayaks were great to use.||Pan fishing was great -- we caught many Sun Fish, Blue Gill, Perch and Rock Bass -- one after another which makes fun fishing for those of us who don't usually fish (i.e. have patience). We caught 28" and 29" Northerns, but they were not plentiful. The use of a pontoon as much as we wished throughout the week was a nice bonus as that's how we did most of the pan fishing and also touring around the lake.||The Loons. The Loons. The Loons! It was so awesome to see and hear so many Loons and their babies. It was a highlight of the trip.||The Lowlights: |The resort feels very tired/worn-out with many of the buildings needing refreshing/updating and some having unfinished jobs on them. The resort is very junky-appearing with "stuff" stored out in the open throughout the resort -- it is probably no longer even noticed by those who are there day after day. The dock and steps have dangerous areas in need of repair -- rotting boards, broken boards, wobbly docks and uneven surfaces.||Where are the hiking trails? If there were any, we didn't find them. Being "up north", I expected there to be many areas to hike -- not just along the gravel road.||Families could rent golf carts and many were being operated recklessly by young children who were not being monitored by adults. You had to be careful not to be run over.||Compared with other resorts we've stayed at, the dock boys were not knowledgeable about fishing. I wouldn't consider this lake a destination...

We just got back from Arcadia, and boy did we hate to leave. Everything about this resort is great. Lots of kid activities, and some for the adult's. You are able to rent fishing boats, pontoons, and golf carts for getting around the resort. They have a game room with pool table, an arcade game, tons of games, puzzles and an ice cream shop (tons of flavors and extremely reasonable prices). There is absolutely no way you could be bored.

So many things come with your rental: a beautiful beach, paddle boards, a huge assortment of inflatable toys/equipment in the lake, something for all ages. For the kids: There are different crafts every day. Scavenger hunts, free tie dyed t-shirts, a playground, and all ages lake toys, free tubing twice a week, plus free hot dogs on the beach on tubing days. They also have a fishing dock for kids and adults alike.

The cabins are beautiful and immaculate. The knotty pine walls and furniture give it a great rustic feel. What's very impressive is all materials cone locally and furniture us built by the owners. The cabins are all air conditioned. The kitchen is well equipped with every kitchen utensil you could possibly need.

I truly can't say enough good things about this resort. Casey and Kylie are the owners and are always available. Contact numbers for any problem you may encounter are posted in each cabin.

One of the things I really like is their transparency. If you follow them on Facebook, Casey asks people about what they want to see new and/or different at the resort. When weekly prices had to increase for this year, he explained all the reasons why. He is also not above telling you about other resorts in the area. These people truly love their guests and take great pride in their property!

My family (3 generations) have found their forever vacation spot. We can't wait to share it with future...

My family comes to Arcadia every year without fail for almost 15 years and it never disappoints. The staff is AMAZING. There's no words for how hard they work and how great the atmosphere they create is. The cabins are extremely comfortable and now have amazingly fast wifi! I was able to come up for a full 2 weeks for the first time in years with my family because the wifi made it so I could easily do my work from the cabin. The cabins themselves are clean with good plumbing, appliances, plenty of space and various sizes to fit all different types of guests and groups. The lake is clean and clear, the fishing fantastic for largemouth bass, walleye, pan fish and more. Every year there seems to be something new brought to the resort by the staff, whether it be upgrades to cabins, boats, beach amenities/structures, activities and more! Speaking of activities, those are also a huge highlight for the lodge. There's so many kid friendly and focused activities as well as activities for the whole family! Bingo (with crazy good prizes from the store), tie dye, tubing, arts and crafts, swim lessons and water safety, etc. There's never a dull moment and almost every day has activities planned.
