While we were on our Alaskan Cruise we took this excursions at Ketchikan. First, we got on a van and took about 20 min ride to the boat dock. During our boat ride, we got to see bald-head eagle, see sea lion and a crazy amount of seals sun bathing. After the fun tour on the water, we arrived at Silver King Lodge. It is a small building with lots of wood curving, which was interesting. Right in front of the lodge, we saw some Sitka black tail fawns! Then off to a rainforest hike. Our guide told us that it was going to be “the easiest hike” you will ever do. We headed off to the Memorial Trail. Once we started the hike, we saw what he meant by that. The walking trail was a wide wooden trail, I assume it is probably is accessible by wheelchair too. And hence, the easiest hike. I don’t even know if it can be called a “hike” at this point…LOL. The rainforest was pretty cool, it was mostly covered with different kinds of moss. We learned about moss and other plants and trees during our short walk. After taking in all the wonderful nature, it was time to walk back to the Silver King Lodge. The “hike” was about 20 minutes walk. And, we were walking slow, so the trail is kind of short. The picnic tables were all set up for us for the feast. Once we were all seated, the pot was brought over to each table and he dumped the pot of seafood gold onto our table. The seafood feast included crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, potatoes, onions, garlic, corn, and sausage. Oh my goodness they were awesome!!! So much crab legs and everything else… We all got down and dirty for this delectable feast. The ride back to the dock was much faster, since we didn’t stop to look for any wildlife on the way back. Our tour guide kept us entertained on the ride back though. Our first excursion was a big success! We had a great time on this tour and feast. I had a high expectation for the feast, and it certainly delivered!

We visited Silverking Lodge as part of a Disney cruise port adventure - Alaskan Lodge adventure and seafood feast. The scenery was beautiful and the food was fantastic. We arrived by boat and passed a bald eagle nest on the way. Got some great pictures of the bird catching fish. After getting off the boat, we went on a short walk on a trail behind the lodge. Fantastic rainforest views. The meal was all we could eat (and I did try) and included crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, sausage, corn, potatoes, garlic bread and a warm chocolate chip cookie to top it off. There also was a deer that was roaming around the property.

Visited this location as substitute excursion when the original booking was canceled. This was a great substitution and glad we did this, not knowing what we might have experienced with the other. The area was beautiful, we learn a lot about the area and had a GREAT MEAL! This is a fishing lodge destination. The trip over was serene! I could sit on the porch of the lodge for hours/days. If you are a true fishman, this is surely a destination, but I highly recommend this as a cruise excursion! See comments below on the food and the photos speak volumes!

It's hard to describe how perfect our visit was to Silverking Lodge, but I’ll try. From the moment Jeremy picked us up at the dock, my dad, who was so closed off after his primary progressive aphasia diagnosis, turned into a little kid before my very eyes. The scenery is unparalleled and the people who run the lodge are second to none. The lodge accommodations were very comfortable and the fact that I could let dad wander a bit without worry, was incredible. He loved wandering around the deck, watching the deer, and even made the dock his second home. He took up with Micah and Jake so much that one day toward the end of the week, he grabbed a boat oar and started cleaning the sea kelp off the boat launchers just because he wanted to help. I got to know Kaitlyn, Lauren, and MacKenzie during those times, and those three girls are an absolute delight.|| ||I had asked for the perfect fishing guide, and you couldn’t have found anyone better than Axel Svenson. He took up with dad, was incredibly patient with him, and had us limited out all three days we fished with him. Even when the water got rough, he had dad laughing. We had the best experience. The man knows the area like the back of his hand, but above all that, he’s a genuinely nice guy who cares about his customers. We felt he was part of the family after spending three days straight with him. I can’t brag on him enough.|| ||Chef Brad was phenomenal. We informed him early on that I was allergic to celery, so he made sure there was none on the menu the entire week. What he didn’t know is that I don’t ever get to eat soup, because so many people put celery in it, and he always made soup of the day. I got my soup fix at Silverking. In fact, I could probably be seen walking around with a paper coffee cup... it wasn't coffee. It was soup.||||When we ran out of fishing days, Jake told us about Naha Bay and the nature walk and lagoon. So, I grabbed a skiff and drove dad up for a little day excursion. Jake made sure I had Navionics on my phone, so I wouldn’t get lost in the unfamiliar landscape, and he, Lauren, and Kaitlyn told me about visual aids to guide me. It was a wonderful way to spend the day and dad is still talking about the size of the leaves on those monstrous trees.|| ||By the end of the trip, my dad was laughing, smiling, and talking more than I had seen him do in a decade or more. No price could ever be put on that. Nothing but the best of experiences could have made that happen. Silverking did that and I can never thank...
