Camped here 7/2/25 - 7/4/25. I loved this campground. The creek runs through the campground so you get to hear it flow all the time. Only a few sites are on the creek, the rest are set above it. I did attempt to take a dip in it at the swim hole near site 8 but the water was freezing so I didn’t stay long. I stayed in site 5, it was about 10 feet down from where I parked my car and hidden from the road. It was the perfect size for 1-2 small tents. The only negatives of the campground are that the only water spigot is next to the camphost. I did see that they are adding water to all the sites in the near future(the fixtures are there but not fully set up). There are only pit toilets available, sites 5-10 do have to walk uphill to access them so be aware of that. The restroom was very clean but the toilets definitely need to be treated with something to prevent bugs. There were mosquitos flying out of them which made me not want to use it out of fear of getting a bite in a bad place. There were some other campers in the campground but not many around me so I had lots of privacy. As a single female camper I felt perfectly safe camping here alone. It is about 30 minute drive to town and 10-15...
Read moreMy family and I stayed in site #8 for 3 nights and have 0 complaints. There were 1 or 2 other small groups/solo campers that stayed for a night or 2 but that was it! We arrived Sunday, July 14th and left on Wednesday thr 17th. 3 miles from the caves, about 15 from Cave Junction and all the lush forest you could ever want. Quiet, clean, cute and relatively private sites and each site had a bear box, fire pit and a wood pile for burning (we went during fire season so couldn't have a fire but the gesture was appreciatwd). Our site set right on Cave Creek and had a little swimming hole filled with salamanders and fish fry. Only $10 a night with a 2 car limit. Would 100% visit again! Side note: travel trailers are not allowed past Graback Campground at the bottom of the mountain. Probably for good reason as the road is pretty narrow and twisty...
Read moreComparing this campgound to Grayback (down the road). Found Cave Creek to be cold, dark, and damp, located as it is in a rather narrow canyon. There were a few bear boxes for food, maybe one box for every six campsites. 5 stars for having open private sites, there were only two taken at 7pm on a Friday evening in the summer. But one star for families, the river was located down a steep ravine from many campsites, mosquitoes were omnipresent, reserved tickets on sites from several days before were not removed. Mostly, I didn't want to walk four campsites away to get to my coffee for the morning. Grayback, in comparison, was busier but not nearly filled, has no bear issues, was sunnier and had swimming sites in the creek. Couples might choose Cave Creek for privacy, families with younger children should...
