Update After 5 years of launch and camping at this facility, we were finally able to get a permanent slip within the marina and I could not be happier. The people who run the facility Doris and Tom are great. They keep the facilities super clean, everything is always in tip top shape and they truly care about the people who use their property. The slips are well maintained, they allow you to install your own bumpers, dock corners, lights and mats providing they do not impede on foot traffic or your dockmates space. The lighting is great and pathways are always clean. They patrol the marina and are sticklers for ensuring everyone's property stays safe. They have done upgrades to seasonal camping sites and cleaned out the rental tent sites as well to help give more space. Most of those rentals have picnic tables and firepits that have been replaced or updated within the past year or two so everything is solid. The power hook ups are easy to use and are extremely helpful. Still love this place and 10 out of 10 recommend it.
We camped here in July for the 4th weekend, I think the owners would say we had a rocky start, however after him coming to the site before the quite hours to warn us he realized we weren't going to be the problem he thought we were. After that first night things went super well, I can understand the judgement, we had never been there before. It was July 4th weekend, we were all dressed in our red white and blue, we were listening to music and had some beer present. Honestly after that first ( and only ) visit, things were awesome. We had booked a total of 5 sites all close to each other and had all of our kids with us. We had a few boat slips with them ( which were awesome ) and launched our boats right there at the campground ( once again, freaking awesome ) and even had the option for gas right there ( which is extremely handy ). The sites were great, we elected for sites closer to the launch and slips just to keep an eye on the boats. In all honesty even thought I loved our site (50's) we could have camped anywhere, there was no need to be concerned about the boats. They run a tight ship, sorry for the pun. They had someone walk the dock more than once checking everything. Lets start with the sites. They are great, the ones we had were level, they were large, they were clean and had power which was great. Next the dock and slips, they were solid as can be for being right on the point, the walking dock was great and was fun to sit on at night. The slips were large enough for all of our boats and had cleats in all the right places for tie downs. They were short enough I could walk right off the bow which was nice. Now the launch, its easy to launch and the parking is easy as well. Pricing, if I remember correctly the launch comes free with a campsite and same with parking. However if you plan on using them just for launching the price is $10. My wife and I have come back multiple times now to launch with them since camping. We are even looking to do another week with them we had so much fun. Side note, the launch can get rough on high wind days or heavy water traffic days, that's merely a heads up not a negative. There is nothing they can do about that. There is also NO SWIMMING at the launch or anywhere around it which is great as a boat owner. So if you are planning on swimming they do NOT have a location for that, you will need...
Read moreI took my 15 year old son on a fishing/camping trip last week. 4 nights at Ironwood Point. We had site 58 which is a walk in site. The site was great but a tad close to site 57. Thankfully our neighbors left after the first night we were there but the way the sites are set up sitting around the camp fire we were looking directly at our neighbors which were a little close for comfort. Some of the sites have tent pads with the picnic table either above or below the tent pad. We have a fairly large tent 9x14 which fit on our site along with a 12x12 canopy however if we were in site 57 or site 59 we wouldn't have fit. ||||the sites are walk in so keep that in mind and site 58 is down a hill or down a long set of stairs. you definitely get your heart pumping unloading and loading the car. The view is stunning but keep in mind its windy. definitely needed sweatshirts and pants in the morning and if you walk up tot he parking area is like a different world weather wise. ||||Bathrooms have pit toilets, two sinks and two showers. I didn't shower so can't comment on water temp as one of the other reviews mentioned. The bathrooms were clean and we had no issues there.||||There is a store that sells fire wood, live bait and misc stuff. My only complaint with the store is they close at 4pm weekdays and 5pm weekends. We had kayaks and the shoreline is very rocky, like cliff rocky. Not exactly the best spot to have kayaks but we made it work. Overall we had a really nice time and...
