I would suspect I am not the average type of overnight guest at Harlow's.
I was in town (Greenville, MS) for 13 days doing contract work for a company in town and as I was coming in from the Philadelphia, PA area I chose my accommodations remotely ahead of time.
The entire town (it is an extremely small town) of Greenville, MS has essentially 3 what can be considered modern hotels I went with Harlow's as they had the best rate and are the only with a restaurant and as I came to learn they are the only place with a restaurant open past 9:30-10pm in the entire area which was a nice to have.
The rooms were fine and clean and the bed (I had a king size) was comfortable. However they provide zero room cleaning by default unless you ask for it which might make sense for a 1-2 day stay but I was there for close to 2 weeks so I had to keep asking for towels and bedding changes and toiletries, etc.
The restaurant (Delta Delights) serves mostly bar type food and it is ok and what you would expect. It is great that they are open until 1-2am which is far later than anything else around however they don't open until 10am to serve breakfast which makes absolutely zero sense to me. If you are going to serve breakfast, be open during breakfast hours.
The casino area itself is not what most people I know would consider a casino. If you are used to casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas like I am this is more like a large room with some slots. They have maybe 8-10 table games however in the 2 weeks I was there at no point where more than 2 open at the same time and they were both black jack.
They do however provide free alcoholic drinks to everyone playing in the casino (even penny slots from what I could see) which was a nice perk.
They have the ability to bet on sporting events however unfortunately they don't have a normal sportsbook section that has NFL Sunday Ticket showing all the games for people to watch like you see at most normal casinos. They were only showing whatever games were available on local TV at the bar and since MS has no NFL team you were getting fairly random games to watch. While I was there it was when the Thursday night game was on Amazon Prime only and they didn't even splurge to show that game.
They have a small gift/snack shop next to the check in desk which is convenient however they don't sell any diet soda of any kind. This is something I have never experienced in 30+ years of business travel. They had an assortment of sodas including grape and orange but not a single diet soda. They acted like I was the first person to ever ask for a diet soda. In my experience Diet Coke is by far the most consumed soda everywhere I go and I just found it really odd that they don't offer anything diet at all. This is obviously less of an issue for someone staying short term.
All in all I would/will stay at Harlow's again if I need to visit...
Read moreIn total I have stayed here over a month. That is because it is the best hotel for the price anywhere in Greenville.
Here is my review.
Rooms: Rooms were nicely sized. Bathroom had plenty of space to maneuver. Bed comfy. Linens fresh. AC works great. My complaint is that the rooms need some more attention. At first glance they are great. But upon closer inspection they need additional love. My toilet room door has streaks on it as if it had not been wiped down in a long time. Devices like smoke detectors or canned lights were sometimes loosly placed in the ceiling allowing a view into the ceiling above.
Food: They have two restraurants in the facility. The first is a fast casual restaurant called Delta Delights. It is open late. I mostly ate there. Overall I would say its a step above cafeteria food. I always left satisfied. You are not going to be amazed but it is consistent. One downside is that sometimes it will take awhile to get your food.
The other restaurant is Louis Steakhouse. I did not get any of their steaks so take this review with a grain of salt but I did get a couple of their drinks and a mushroom appetizer. Neither were worth the money in my opinion. The food was overpriced and the drinks were far to sweet lacking any nuance.
Service: Overall the service I received was great. I did have some interactions where I felt that they were just trying to move me along but overall the staff was excellent to me. I had become a regular at Delta Delights and there was one staff member that always recognized me and we had some great friendly banter.
Gambling: Sorry yall. Dont have an opinion. I dont gamble.
Entertainment: They have live music Friday and Saturday nights. Its decent. The audio mix can be worked on but the band seems like they are having fun and I enjoyed it.
Biggest complaint: As I have mentioned in my previous point I dont gamble and I was here for work. That being said the only bar that is available is a video poker bar. As a non gambler I would sit at the bar and get free drinks but I also feel like I wish I could just pay for my drinks somewhere and not worry about if I am taking a seat from someone who is gambling. They have signs that specifically state that the bar is for gamblers only. Despite getting free drinks I always tipped my bartender well and they personally did not seem to care.
Overall: Harlows is between a 3 and a 4 star. Im sure if I was a gambling man that may be higher. For those that gamble this is probably a decent place to go. For those seeking a high class gambling experience, go to Vegas. For those looking for a decent room in Greenville? Harlows should definitely be put...
Read moreThe location was close to the road we were traveling on, which is why we stayed here.
Please note that this review is on the not on the casino as we didn't play during our visit.
We arrived around 8 pm and checked in to the hotel. The entrance was beautiful and gave you somewhat of a Las Vegas vibe, the hotel staff was nice.
We hadn't eaten since that morning and dined at the Delta Delights Cafe as the Steakhouse was closed.
The cafe staff was rude, didn't welcome you or say anything, just asked "what do want". They have it set up where you order and pay at this desk before sitting down. Once paid, they handed us a number to set on a table along with styrofoam cups and mumbled while pointing to the back. It wasn't very clear what we were supposed to do until we saw the soda machine in the back.
We seated ourselves and waited an hour. No one came up to us during this wait. There was staff clearly having a good time in the kitchen as we could hear them joking around and laughing.
There was one staff member in particular who would just walk by and give us a dirty look, then look up and away, she wouldn't even make eye contact. My husband tried to stop and ask another lady if she could check on our food she kept on walking and just said they're working on it.
They served the food in styrofoam to-go boxes while walking and yelling numbers across the restaurant very loudly while carrying the boxes in a bag.
When it came to ours, the lady yelled out numbers (which I couldn't quite make out) and took the food to the front then proceeded to stop at a table with friends on her way back to the kitchen. They looked over at our table (we were the only ones sitting on that side of the cafe) and laughed, and then she proceeded to give us a look and walk back into the kitchen.
About 15-20 minutes later, another woman who appeared to be a supervisor brought us our food and apologized to us and stated she didn't know how or why our food was up front. She was the only one who talked to us. By this time, our food was cold, and I wasn't about to ask anyone here to heat it up.
I'm not sure why they were like that to us. It wasn't necessary, and I felt bad that they acted like that towards us, people they don't know. However, I hope the staff receives a refresher on customer service.
I would NOT recommend eating here.
The hotel room was non-smoking but reeked of cigarette smoke. You couldn't lock the bathroom doors. Other than that it was a...
