I have stayed at this location on many different occasions, I've never had any problems with this hotel or its staff other than the occasionally loud guest at times (but that is to be somewhat expected#. This stay however, I was very disappointed to say the least. About 4 weeks into my stay I was doing laundry late #around 9-9:30pm# when I went to put the laundry into the dryer all of my laundry was missing. Thinking maybe someone had taken it by accident #there was one other person with laundry in as well# I checked all the dryers to be sure that 1) I hadn't forgotten which drier I had used and 2) to see if the other person who had been doing laundry clothes were still there and that may be they had taken my by mistake. No other clothes were to be found anywhere in any machine other than three of my random socks. I started to panic a little as I had to work the next day and all my work clothes were in the drier. So I went to the front desk as was told sorry not my problem there is a sign that states they aren't responsible for lost or stolen items. I checked there is a sign however, I find that its odd the don't have a camera set up in the laundry area like most hotels I've stayed at have had in the past. I asked what I should do the guy working the desk said there isn't anything they can do other than hope someone would turn them in or put them back. At this point I asked him if he could hang up signs to at least notify people to double check there laundry that they hadn't grab the wrong one. He say no that isn't their policy! I asked what I was supposed to do with not having my work clothes and having to go to work in the morning. I was basically told not my problem. I just find that rude and not good customer service at all. I told him I was going to call the police to report it because he wasn't helpful at all. He just became even more rude at this point. I decided to wait outside the laundry room while I called the police. A guy staying two doors down from me came out of his room went in the laundry room came back out then went to his room, #I believe he was looking for the mates to the socks that I found of mine in the drier). Knowing he had to have heard me on the phone about 2-3 mins later he shows back up so I ask him if he had been doing laundry, he said yes so I asked him if he would double check to make sure he didn't grab my stuff as well. So he goes back to his room leaves the door open for some reason and goes right to a PACKED bag and pulles out all of my clothes folded up into HIs bag! How does one fold another persons clothes and not notice they aren't their own clothing they are folding. And to top it off al of the clothes were extremely damp like they had only been in the drier for all of 20 mins or so. No way does this even make any sense at all. I spoke with the manger as well that night. I honestly don't remember his name I was already looking into a different hotel to check into the next day. He couldn't have cared less about the whole situation all together. I felt he was condescending over the phone when talking with him. I found a different hotel up the road a bit with a breakfast included and pool and laundry for only $10 more a night and staff there were shocked by the fact that Candlewood doesn't have a camera in there laundry area. I will never stay at this...
Read moreI usually have a 3 point review of were I stay: 1) is it clean? 2) is there Coffee? and 3) is there wifi. Free breakfast is a bonus. Here's how the candlewood Suites in ||1. Is it clean.|Yes, this place was scrupulously clean, despite the wear and tear. As an extended stay facility, there were definitely signs of wear. THe reason this place only got 4 stars is due to the obvious wear that I saw: the tub faucet was held on with caulk, and the dishwasher had issues. But for a clean place to stay for a weekend, it definitely meets the mark.||2. Is there Coffee?|Yes, there is a machine available 24/7 in the lobby for freshly ground coffee. I had to alert the front desk only once about the grounds bin being full, and it was quickly taken care of. Extra points for freshly ground coffee in my book. I would have preferred a dark roast, but the medium that they had was good.||3. Is there wifi?||Yes, free to IHG members. Honestl, the wifi and the late check out are worth joining. I didn't use the wifi much this trip as we were travelling for a sporting event.|||Other features:|Kitchenette - this was nice. There was a full size fridge with an ice maker in the freezer. Nice to not Ave to walk down the hall in your jammies because you want some ice for a drink. There was a 2 burner induction cook top, and dishes were provided in the unit. Also included were pots and pans, utensils and a toaster. Other appliances, like rice cookers and George foreman grills, are available in their 'cupboard' just off of the lobby if you need to borrow them.||Laundry: I can't say how much this really makes travelling convenient. We were travelling for a sports competition, and the ability to do kiddo's smelly jersey and uniform were a plus. It also offers the ability to pack light, knowing that we could wash what we brought if needed. Washers and dryers are complementary for guests, and soap can be purchased for $2 (as of this writing) in the party.||Pet Friendly:|We didn't bring the pets on this trip, but we could tell that other people on our floor did. Not by the noise at all,but the units with pets and a sticker saying "Pet Roommate" to alert staff. There were two 'Pet Roommates' on our floor and I barely heard a peep from them.||On to the negatives:|Price: at $175 for IHG members, this is a little high in my price range for a weekend accommodation. I found much cheaper rates on booking websites, and the league was negotiating with another Candlewood suites for a rate of $99/night. I wish the member rate was the most reasonable, because otherwise the only perks are free wifi and a late checkout - and you can bay for both of those as an upcharge.||The overall experience was pleasant, the place was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly. I would have preferred a lower rate, but then doesn't everyone. I would probably stay here again, but I'd probably work with the league to negotiate a better rate or book through a booking service, rather than book through the Club...
Read moreThere are not enough stars to rate our night we had, it was simply perfect from check-in to check-out. Phil and Evan made our reservations which they are both superior to none. Evan took the time to call me back and personally make my reservation. When we arrived we were checked in promptly and Phil was there to insure we didn't have any questions or need anything. Leslee was so very helpful as well. We needed a antiseptic wipe from the first aide kit and she was able to provide us with everything needed. Her personalty and kindness became infectious as we were getting coffee from the cupboard she had a large group to check in and a caller that was loud enough we could hear them being upset with her that the TV was not working for them. I felt she walked the guest thru the process using the remotes in front of her and offered to come to there room, but the guest declined. It was a loud conversation on the guest part. We asked for additional pillows which she brought to our room. Kayla did an act of kindness by giving both of us a $5 coupon to use in the cupboard which we hit the jack-pot! We were so gracious that she wanted to extend her act of kindness to us. While we watched the movie that we brought I said hmmm popcorn would be great now, and WOW in the microwave we had popcorn! Made me a very happy Guest. We did request a late checkout due to medical purposes for myself and they said it was not a problem to take our time and to place the magnet outside of our door. When we checked out Chuck was kind enough to fill out our paperwork for us to have the IHG rewards and gave us our temp card. He explained how the program worked and we are thrilled to stay with Candlewood Suites South- Indianapolis very soon. Having the abilty to not only have a lovely space that was clean and secure to us we also enjoyed the grounds on the property and sat outside under the porch would have loved additional places to sit but it was lovely and we look forward to this location to become HOME AWAY FROM HOME for many many years to come! Its wonderful to have mini-vacations. Thank you to all of the staff and those who we didn't come in contact with our stay was simply wonderful. We also enjoyed looking at the board that offered daily weather, coupons and information for the local area. Thank you,...
