10 out of 10 recommend the Wyoming High Country Lodge for anyone looking to visit for a weekend or as a wedding venue. It is the perfect setting for a mountain wedding.
I had my rehearsal dinner and wedding at the High Country Lodge (HCL) on August 2 and 3, 2019. It was the perfect day and the High Country Lodge team was a big reason for that. The team was amazing to work with every step of the way, from planning to day of organization. The team was very communicative, friendly, and thorough when answering my questions and helping me understand what was possible during the planning process.
My husband’s family and mine stayed at the lodge and we had 100 guests for the wedding. The HCL was extremely accommodating for any needs of everyone who was there and for helping us set up wedding decorations. The main lodge and cabins are beautifully crafted, cozy, and well kept. The cost for everything that goes into a wedding (e.g. room prices, food, tables) was reasonably priced, which is another reason I highly recommend them.
The wedding celebration at the HCL was perfect. It was private, which was something we really wanted for our ceremony. Only the people we invited to our wedding were there and there are no roads close by with distracting noises. It was absolutely beautiful with the brilliant array of wildflowers, surrounding mountains, forest, and streams. It was the perfect setting to have a mountain wedding. The food was delicious! Both the rehearsal and reception dinner was excellent. Not to mention all the meals in between! We had our ceremony and reception outside and it fit everyone comfortably.
The HCL helped everything come together in the most beautiful way. I cannot thank Jim, Emily, and Matt enough for making my wedding everything...
Read moreThis is a lovely place to stay. You are made to feel very welcome and the lodge has a laid back feel. The communal area is warm and comfortable with views through a large picture window.||||Our cabin was also comfortable and rustically furnished. The cabins seem a better choice than the lodge rooms as some of these looked a little dark. The hot tub was a bonus but unfortunately the jets didn't work so it was just a hot bath!||||We have two small niggles, which have been noted by other reviewers. It is the first time we have had a room cleaning charge added to a reservation and the automatically added gratuity on the whole bill doesn't sit well. The rooms aren't serviced during your stay (although we were quite happy with this) and all meals are also completely self service. This in itself is not a problem - it reflects the staffing at the lodge and is part of its informality. But are these charges justified? It does seem that the rate of these has been reduced, though.||||Overall, however, it is a lovely place to stay - very relaxing and perfect for a peaceful escape in beautiful...

Exceeding expectations is the ongoing theme here. The staff are the nicest people in this galaxy. I'm pretty sure The Pope and Ghandi had a conversation about the WHCL staff and decided to give up because they can't compare to this staff. Oh you've had long day on the trail and you're hungry? NO PROBLEM. Emily has already slaved all day over some delicious meal that is all home made with sprinkles of butterfly kisses. I'm a 230lb powerlifter and not once did my belly ever growl. Got a craving for fresh unicorn? Jim will likely find one on Bald mountain, kill it and grill it perfectly. For breakfast, you're going to be treated to eggs freshly cooked by Gordon Ramsey aka Matt. If you're looking for a cookie cutter adventure at some lame resort...Don't bother coming here. You'll get a personalized experience with the best accommodations in the Big Horns.
