So, for CA, the price is reasonable ($40 cash per vehicle), and on a Friday in august we found a spot and could have stayed all weekend, except we needed but didn’t have cell service on T-mobile. Others with Verizon had service. It’s a haphazard layout, areas with trees, and more open cliff side. People can park wherever, if there is a picnic table (movable) and a fire ring (allowed). So it’s a pretty organic pattern of rvs and tents. There were some big family groups playing dance music, not our scene but they did quiet around 10pm. There are areas for larger groups sectioned off, we think there was a church group happening. Grass is dry at this time of year, and scattered with dirt patches as you can drive anywhere. There isn’t a beach per se, but one road leads down to the water, otherwise there are some sandy spots high up on cliffs. Would make me nervous with kids, many of whom were riding bikes and roaming freely all over this big campground. Fun for them I’m sure, but would make me anxious as a parent. Toilets are port-a-potty style, thank God I was in an RV. They we not kept clean twice a day like you would find in the state campgrounds. I believe there was a shower building but I didn’t venture in. There is a little store, with very expensive snacks and toiletries and drinks. The property borders Stillwater park, good for hiking. If you want a laid back anything goes family campground, you might love it. Of course there were dogs, and a few dispensers with bags. No hookups, no dumpstation. Yes, good water is available. We prefer state campgrounds with more space, clean restrooms, and usually more quiet, how ever we were being spontaneous, didn’t have reservations, and appreciated finding a spot, even if we...
Read moreHave always been coming here camping with family and friends. Amazing views, serene and quiet. Sound of waves crashing against the cliffs when falling asleep and waking up to them is so peaceful. Something about the sound of the ravens in the morning is something I look forward to each trip. At night, the sky lights up with so many stars and constellations that you can just admire the beauty of. There are many camping spots here, and it's on a first come, first serve basis. There is a boat ramp that will take you down to the beach. People have access to the beach via boat ramp. Just be careful it's slippery at times. Beach is made up of pebbles and rocks, not very sandy. There is a place where people can clean their fish at the top of the boat ramp. Throughout the camp, there are designated water spouts, Port a johns, and trash cans. Each camp site comes with its own fireplace. Bring your own wood because you will get fined if you burn any sticks you find there. They have a campground store that sells some firewood. The store is also stocked with some food, fruit, ice cream, candy, pots, and many other items. There is also a beautiful path you can take and walk along the cliffs. It goes through the forest on the opposite side of where the boat ramp is located. There is an access opening through the fence where the path starts from the campground. Just be careful along those cliffs, they have caved and broken off years ago, almost taking our friends down with them. Just stay on the path, watch your little ones very closely, and you should be ok. We have seen deer there. And if you make it to almost the end of the path, there should be a wooden bench where you can sit and...
Read moreA great Spot to spend some time camping along the northern California coast. A super cool view of the ocean when you wake up in the morning. This place has some cool hiking trails Along the cliffs through some smalle prairie's and underneath and through tunnels made of pine trees. There is a boat launch and a spot that kids can play in the tide pools and check out sea life. Great cliffs to hang out on and get some fresh air or take photos. There is a general store across the street for supplies and firewood if you need anything and another store off the main highway about 3 miles south with a gas station and more supplies. Great spot for setting up A tent or parking an RV to camp out. The main road that connects all the camp sites is paved if kids or adults want to ride their bikes around the whole area. Each spot has a fire area and grill and picnic table. There are portable outdoor toilets set up that are mainted and have been very clean and maintained often, all within walking distance of pretty much any of the camp sites. There are potable water spigots all around the campground that you can walk to usually very close to a campsite. I'm pretty sure there are showers, not sure if the water is hot or only cold... I haven't used them before but I have seen them used pretty much every time I've been there. A little bit windy but a great place for flying kites... Make sure and bring some windbreakers or jackets for the...
