We stayed at Meadowlark Barn and weren't that impressed but have to preface this review by saying that the other times we've been here have always been good in other rooms/cottages. However, it does put a damper on our recent getaway as we had high hopes for this cottage and were really disappointed. ||||The concept and idea of a barn is cute and admirable, but if you are over 5'5 you are going to have a hard time getting around in this place. There is a lot of angle architecture and vaulted ceilings and it made it very difficult to walk around without hitting your head on the stairs/bedroom areas. The stairs are VERY steep in this place. I have a bad ankle and it was quite difficult in getting up the two sets of stairs to the bedroom/bathroom. I wish I had read about that in a review as we would have chosen differently for those reasons alone. ||||But apart from that, we were going mainly for the dry sauna and hot tub/jacuzzi aspects. Well, the dry sauna basically didn't work. The infrared did not come on at all and the back lights didn't heat at all either. The light bulb was burnt out in it as well, which they mentioned they knew about, but didn't fix that for some reason before we got there? ||||The hot tub was nice, the jets/temp/timer seemed to have a bit of a short or a glitch in it. We couldn't get the jets to go very strong, but it was decent. ||||The jacuzzi however had issues with the jets as well. Had a time of it even trying to get them to come on, but they wouldn't go any higher than level 1. ||||We did call and Gary offered to come over to look at the sauna (we hadn't used the other things at that point) and he was very kind when he came over. He said that it would be something major he'd have to look at the next day once he saw the issue. He offered some sparkling cider since we don't drink alcohol. It was a sweet gesture and we appreciated it but having your evening interrupted with items not working leaves a less than romantic/relaxing night. ||||The sound system on the tv/dvd player wasn't really working right either and when we asked about that, he didn't really know much about how it worked. The cd they have in the cd player skipped to the point of it stopping when you played it while trying to listen to it over breakfast. (not very romantic lol)||||We were really looking forward to the dry sauna and the infrared aspects of it and the heavy jets on the hot tub/jacuzzi as we've been recovering from a health battle relating to very sore muscles/inflamed nerves. So for us, the whole reason in coming here was pretty much a downer with those things not working properly. ||||Having stayed at Parrots Cove and it being so wonderful, this particular cottage was a real disappointment with the amenities basically broken to some degree and the layout of the place not being very accommodating. ||||So overall just not having some of the main things working properly in the place was a big disappointment to a night we had been looking forward to for a long time. ||||Appreciated the uniqueness of the personalized touches with your name on everything and the secluded atmosphere. The colors and decorations were very rustic and country so if you love that type of decor/style, you will love this place. The Arcadian and Aaron's Gate are some of the best places to stay in town. We've been to about 10 different b and b's and this one always ranks high. This time, it just fell flat though. That's not typical for this business establishment though, so please understand that aspect. They do far better than most out there. ||||This was a lot of money for us to spend on this and to be left with such a disappointing experience was not the tone we wanted set for our long holiday weekend. Wish we had picked a different cottage or saved...

I recently stayed at Arcadian Getaways with my partner and definitely enjoyed our stay. That being said, I figured I’d go into a little more detail for anyone planning a stay. ||We stayed in their Parrot cabin which is a fun experience given we live in a landlocked state and it was entirely tropical in design. So, of course, our experience is based only on that cabin.||The entire property (gated entry) is super private. Like - can’t have something delivered unless you meet them at the gate private (which can be a con sometimes). But, you don’t have to interact with anyone your entire time which is kind of nice. ||The things we liked the most:| - yay private hottub outdoors that’s easy to use| - comfy bed | - sizeable space overall | - comfy couch | - nice jetted tub | - lots of personalization touches (our names were printed on things/on the greeting plaque by the door)| - full kitchen| - the Christmas tree decor matched the theme of the room (seashells etc) which was a nice touch| - plenty of towels for your stay| - robes and slippers (note - not the fluffy kind, but they are large and warm enough).| - they have shampoo, conditioner, a makeup remover towelette, a couple soap bars, a sample foot scrub and salts by the bath (the included ones - not additional cost) hand lotion and hand sanitizer available. | - yummy cookies and some different snacks available if you wanted them | - fridge has an ice maker | - music greets you on entry (Caribbean like Christmas music for ours) and it starts it off nicely||Some notes:| - the bed is tall! They do have a step stool though if you need it | - if you search them on Google it advertises they have wi-fi. Nothing in the cabin alerted us to this/we had no password or anything to access it if it did have it. | - there is a coffee maker (not keurig) in the room. It had been lightly rinsed out from the last person and I had to clean it as there were still coffee remains in it. The main part where the water goes in also needed some cleaning. They offer both regular and decaf coffee which is nice. Powdered creamer is available and sugar in the raw. | - the overall size of the shower was great - but one of the shower heads didn’t work too well. | - if you want to watch tv from the jetted tub - you can’t really |- the gas fireplace runs on a timer (which makes an incessant ticking noise as it counts down) and unfortunately seemed to have an issue as the flames didn’t cover much of the logs at all. It did produce warmth though :-)|- the toilet area doesn’t have a door and not even a full divider really |- the breakfast is a nice touch - especially getting to handle it yourselves. It tasted fairly good. I had asked for some modifications which I was told they were able to accommodate but only got one of the things. Still, a neat...

I normally never give anyone bad reviews but this was a special case. We stayed here in November and had terrible” anniversary” Aaron’s Gate experience! We have stayed here multiple times, years ago and our stay has always been great. This time we stayed in the Parrot’s Cove cottage and I was in shock how disgusting and how highly outdated it was. I have honestly never stayed anywhere or seen anything like it. Hair all over sheets with dirt or someone’s spray on tan butt imprint stain, dust was high on everything, stains on couch and all over rug, pillows were so dirty, flooring, windows and dishes were filthy, hot tub smelled like mildew. I called immediately after checking the room out and management came out right away and sincerely apologized and graciously refunded our money. They offered to call and set up a hotel for us to stay in and we happily took them up on their offer, thinking they would make it up to us and put us in a nice hotel or something price comparable. They came back in to let us know they contacted an old friend that had a bed and breakfast, which was great with us and 30 min out from where we were, we agreed to stay. We drive up and it was an older very sweet woman who showed us to our room and informed us that she hasn’t had anyone stay for 7 years or so, it’s just a spare bedroom now! There was absolutely nothing in the room except a bathroom, very nice shower, bed, no working Tv or cable, no mini fridge or any other amenities. My husband and I helped her remove Christmas boxes that filled the room, after spending 20 min or so getting room cleaned up we made a decision and decided to go home where we were much more comfortable. I called later to let the man from Aaron’s Gate know what had happened with the place that they sent us and to not refer anyone there because she no longer does bed and breakfast. The woman was just doing Aaron’s Gate a favor because they are family friends. The owners son from Aaron’s Gate seemed very annoyed and had an attitude about our situation. I am so disappointed with this place, they said they would try to make it up to us but never called me back. money wasted that night on childcare and my husband taking off off work but needless to say at least our anniversary...

We had a wonderful time on our honeymoon here. The cabin was decorated beautifully. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the walk in shower. The strawberries and dipping sauces were delicious. The personal touches for the couple made things over the top !! I love love this place! It is secluded, yet still close to Guthrie and Okc. We recommend this place and can't wait to return this fall !
