This hotel is making me question my decision to stay a Marriott Loyalty member. For me to have an enjoyable sleep experience, I look for cleanliness, a very cool temperature, and as dark as I can get make it (like covering the clock light and space under the entry door type of dark. :). Happy to report the room is almost brand new so cleanliness received a great check mark. As for the two other criteria, this hotel missed the mark dramatically. Unfortunately, the hotel rooms have an approximate 2" x 2" motion detector sensor which lights up (green) whenever someone moves or turns in bed. After calling the front desk to inquire how to turn it off, they shared that the illuminated motion detector was designed to save energy by turning off the lights and AC when there was no movement in the room and they could not turn off the light. This knocked out the "dark as I can make it" desire. We ended up covering the light with a piece of clothing but the room then became too warm during the night because the AC wouldn't cycle with the light covered. Sleeping in a warm room is extremely uncomfortable for my family so we ended up removing the clothing in the middle of the night so the AC would turn back on. (and just dealt with the green light flashing through the night). This was possibly the worst experience I've ever had a Marriott property... Front desk acknowledged they receive constant complaints from customers but they were unable to change the configuration. They also shared that all "new design" Marriott properties will be setup in a similar fashion. They credited my account with "extra points" but needless to say I will never stay here again. Additionally, if Marriott implements this type of configuration at other hotels I will undoubtedly switch to a different brand. No matter how new, nicely designed, or stocked with amenities a hotel provides, if you can't provide a good sleep experience then all other benefits are useless. Very...
Read moreI'll start with the positives. The price was great. The bed was comfortable. The room was very clean. You can check out at noon. I don't know exactly when they opened, but it's a fairly new hotel which is always nice. There were some cons though. The breakfast was very simple and most of it didn't look very appetizing. I wish I had taken a picture to share what I mean as the bacon and sausage looked super dry and shriveled up like they had been on that warmer for far longer than they should have been. Like some others have said, the walls are a little thin and what seems like normal speaking volume and volume of devices can be heard pretty well through the walls. I agree with another thing a previous poster wrote about how the AC didn't seem to be cooling down very well. Along those lines, I'll say that I've never (knowingly) stayed in a hotel that had motion sensors in the room. I had to Google this and apparently it is to be a little better on cost for running the AC when people aren't in the room. At least that was what I found on Google. That said, I understand the reasoning for it. I will say though that the light wasn't that big of a deal during the day but it's a pretty bright green light as you're tossing and turning throughout the night. Back to a positive, a nice thing when the AC did turn out was that it still seemed to have a bit of a "new" smell circulating around. The price and proximity to where I needed to be the next day were my reasons for choosing this hotel initially. That said, there's probably better hotels around but I'm not opposed to coming back here if the price and location are...
Read moreHORRIBLE EXPERIENCE— I rented a hotel room with my girlfriend under her name so that she could go work an overnight shift at her job in Hagerstown and not have to drive home in the snow with icy roads. She got off work around 3am and got to the hotel, but unfortunately didn’t have a key since she had rushed to work when I checked in.
So it’s 3am and 20 degrees outside and snowing and the front door to the hotel is LOCKED SHUT. So she rings the intercom to speak with the front desk to explain that she has rented a room but doesn’t have a key. She told them that she has her ID on her and confirmation information to identify herself. THE WOMEN AT THE FRONT DESK REFUSED TO LET HER INTO THE HOTEL! They flat out refused to allow her into the hotel. They wouldn’t as much let her into the lobby so she could prove her identity. They did NOT attempt to ask questions, verify her identity, or make any attempt to assist whatsoever. My phone was on silent mode and couldn’t receive calls. My girlfriend asked if they could notify me in any way or give me a call. AGAIN THEY REFUSED. Mind you, my girlfriend is the one who the room is booked under. What if she had gone to her car and forgot a key in the night? What if she had went outside and didn’t at least have a car to sit in? It was freezing cold, 20 degrees, and snowing.
To add injury to insult, the women at the front desk DIDNT EVENT APOLOGIZE or offer any type of remedy.
Very disappointed in the lack of training from management and gross lack of care for a customer from their...
